Reports in Spain linking us to Luciano Vietto saying we've met his buy out clause of €20m, but at that price there will be a lot of competition.
R1. There are plenty who seem to be in no doubt that Klopp should be brought in now, no questions asked. They may not use the word 'messiah', but it's only a figure of speech. I'm saying we should be asking plenty of questions, because this season has put question marks over him, no doubt about it. I'm not trying to compare him and Rodgers, I'm saying the club can't afford to get this summer wrong. So the comparison that you are constantly doing is irrelevant. The question should be, is Klopp the right person to take us into the top four, because that is our immediate priority. The club need to be convinced of the reasons that Klopp has been poor this season, and to decide if it was an aberration, or something else.....

Rumours were gathering pace on us signing Kubotic, but we're not even interested apparently. The silly season is in full flow.......
I know he's an Argentine, but he sounds like an Italian, so we should stay well away
Watched a clip of him on Youtube. Good dribbler and finisher.
World Class. Next Suarez.

We should just sign him and Klopp, then it's back to the 80's glory days
All good points term.
I don't want Rodgers out for the sake of it, which quite a high percentage of fans want. For me at the moment there are only two top available managers which would be an upgrade, Klopp and Ancelotti.
We are a top club, if we are to remain a top club we need a top manager, because let's face it we don't have a lot going for us at the moment. Rodgers might be one some day but he isn't now, and we don't have the time to wait for that.
At the moment we can about attract the best managers but a few years more of mediocrity we won't be viewed as a top club anymore. It's a pretty rare occasion that if you look across Europe at the shortage of top jobs available and we are the most attractive of any, I feel we need to take advantage of that.
Re the manager situation, if we have the opportunity to upgrade on Rodgers and a manager like Klopp is available we should do it.
We're always looking at upgrading the players, why should it be any different with the manager.
If we are buying Ings and have Origi then it would be suicide to buy another young potential player to cover Sturridge.
the problem I have with replacing Rodgers with Klopp isn't that I don't rate Klopp, it's just that every criticism of Rodgers can also be said of Klopp.
Rodgers is hanging on by a thread right now, but so would Klopp had to done to us what he did to his side.
I need a better reason to change manager.
As for those saying Klopp was lucky with the dortmund squad, he still needs to get the best out of them as a manager which he did.
For example, let's look at Sahin. Everyone knows he's a good player. Klopp has got the best out of him, before and after he came to Liverpool. Rodgers? I think people forgot he even signed for us.
(Except for the Verminator of course )
Apart from the criticism that Rodgers hasn't won anything.
I guess it comes down to how you look at it.
Is it harder to finish ahead of 3 of the 4 teams you should finish behind or finish ahead of the 1 team ahead of you to win a trophy.
You could make a decent argument for either.

If you take Bayern out of the equation, then the German league is a much more level playing field, compared to the PL. For example, if Bayern have a real bad season then the title is wide open. For many years in the PL that's not been the case. Generally you would need City, Chelsea and United to all have a very poor season before you achieve that level field.....

R1. But I'm saying we need to make league position our first priority. Until we start finishing in the top four on a regular basis, we will continue to stagnate, cup wins or not. We will not sign the players we want on the basis of the odd cup run, it's continual qualification for the CL that interest the vast majority of players, and what will give us the annual income to pay the salaries that will entice them.
I disagree Term on what players want.
Players want to get paid a lot and to win stuff.
I don't believe any player worth having ends their career and says 'I played in the CL group stage loads!'.
Of course we want to do well in the league, but I don't understand why some of our fans want us to be Arsenal 05-13.
Liverpool are synonymous with winning stuff.
We won't be for much longer if our one trophy in 9 seasons continues.
There are kids who will be starting out in academies right now have only seen Liverpool win one Carling Cup in their lives.

there are definitely things to criticise Rodgers for
and we're definitely not near the side we were before the cowboys bankrupted us and drove out our best manager in decades.
we just need to be careful that we don't change managers to only end up with the same issues and realise after the fact that it wasn't really a manager problem but one of unrealistic expectation considering the rules on finances and number of clubs ahead of us already. And that sticking with Rodgers would have saved us years of an unnecessary start over.
