The Times say we are worried about the price of Clyne for around £15m (why??) and have identified Burnley's Kieran Trippier as an alternative target. Pretty depressing if true.

I'd prefer Clyne of the two..

But 15m is an awful lot considering there is a year left on his contract

It's all relative though, isn't it? If he's as good as everyone is saying, then it's not too much. Sometimes you've just got to pay the price. We paid 20m for Lovren ffs.

Trippier had a decent season in a defensive side. His next move will be a Aston Villa or Stoke but Clyne is already England's number 1 RB. Been playing well for a side who was in top 7 all season. He's a level above Trippier

Trippier is a fine crosser of the ball.

I'd say Clyne is less of a risk. He's already played in a side in the upper parts of the PL and is an international. Trippier is a gamble, you can't deny that. And haven't you all had enough of the 'gambles'?

I don't rate Trippier personally. Apparently would only cost £3.5m so I'd have him as a squad player but wouldn't want him starting every week.
