Zenit St. P are considering selling Malcom as they tolerate racism
Their fans released a "manifesto" reading:
""We are not racist and for us the absence of black players is just an important tradition, emphasising the identity of the club and nothing more. "We, as the northernmost club of the major European cities, have never been mentally connected with Africa, however, as with South America or Australia or Oceania. We have absolutely nothing against the inhabitants of these and any other continents, but at the same time we want players who are close in spirit to speak for Zenit.
Now, Zenit black football players are being forced upon us, and this causes only a backlash. Let us be what we are."
This was then followed by a banner being unfurled when Malcom came off the subs bencgh for his debut reading:
"Thank you leadership for your loyalty to traditions"
I can see a large fine in the tens, if not hundreds of euros, being handed out for that kind of malarky.
That'll show 'em.
https://www.90min.com/posts/6426311-zenit-st-petersburg-may-sell-malcom-after-apparent-racial-abuse-on-his-debut
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I know it shouldn't be a consideration and players should have the freedom to play wherever they choose without the risk of racial abuse; but if I were a black footballer there is no way I would go and play in Russia. I'd think twice about Italy frankly.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Isn't this the same as Bilbao who only employ Basque players?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't necessarily agree with Bilbao's stance but they have a policy based on the political ideology of the club and the support for Basque autonomy.
Zenit's fans appear to have a policy whereby they don't want African players but are fine with everything else, although someone clearly hasn't told them Malcolm was born in Brazil.
You could argue Bilbao is discriminatory but on the basis they encourage the immigrant Basque population and Basque descendants, it's not targeted discrimination. Zenit's is flat out racism. I'd struggle to equate the two.

Not really.. They employ players born in a region of spain.
Zenit fans dont want them to employ people of another race.
One of those teams will sign people of colour, the other will not.
Both of those teams are happy to sign basque players, but one will only do so if they have white skin.
Neither team would sign a black russian, one because the person in question would not be from the local region, the other because they are black, even though they are local.
Enormously different

I also absolutely hate being called a Brexiteer, as I'm the furthest thing from it.
Lived in Europe, speak 3 European languages, did a degree in one of them, visit Europe all the time.
Why the fack would I vote for Brexit?!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Newsflash. You could do all those things prior to the EUs inception.
You’ll also be able to do them post Brexit too.
The problem with this debate is people have a hard time separating the political union to the continent itself.
Brexiteers can be pro Europe and anti EU.
"Brexiteers can be pro Europe and anti EU"
Can they? Can't think of any examples. Surely people who are pro Europe want the freedom to travel, without visas and fees, a stronger £ for when they exchange to EURO etc?

Yeah, couldn't do anything about the second but first one it looked like he gave the shout for the headed backpass. Not the keeper's fault the defender fluffed it but he maybe didn't need to charge out to clear it. He was already off his line though anticipating the backpass so think it would be harsh to blame the keeper.
