I agree but its more about canceling football for the foreseeable future, not just this season.

Not really. You play when you can. June seems a good starting point.
Crowds filling stadiums wont happen for even a year but in the meantime you play behind closed doors.
Clubs can't keep paying players for sitting at home doing a 5 minute zoom video and pay them full wage or even half.
Yeah my point is if this season cannot be finished, it would probably mean next season is very likely facked as well.

I don’t see why clubs and players should be treated any differently to others. Socially isolate until it’s safe to do so, work from home if you can, don’t if you can’t, go to work if you’re an essential employee.
If paying staff for staying at home and not working is not feasible, don’t pay them. Rushing people back to football and potentially putting people at risk because of lost revenue or wages isn’t ideal

Exactly. All businesses are working on a back to work plan for approval by the govt and football is no different.
You’re talking about 50 plus clubs and tens of thousands going out of business and an industry worth billions going bust. It isn’t that simple.
—————
I don’t see why not. It’s probably a drop in the ocean compared to the other hundreds of thousands of businesses going bust and the cost to the economy that of that.
Treat everyone the same if possible. Remove restrictions when it’s safe to do do. Don’t rush back and put people at unnecesssry risk
Don't forget, the only reason the tories canceled gatherings like footie initially was to avoid having to send police and ambulance staff to games..
Well if there is a private ambulance there.. And no risk of crowd invasion, im pretty sure they will get going, the office im working in this week has 60 staff every morning and NO social distancing.
IMO, any business that can put together a working back to work plan should be allowed to go ahead, but only if it works and medical experts approve.
One business should not go down because others are going down. Save what you can. Let any man who can swim to shore do so.

That was not what the government said.
Many people are in work here, myself included. I am not essential. Only shops, bars, restaurants were forced to close. Basically anywhere where public can gather. The public aren't going to be allowed to attend football matches, even in June when they are planning to open much of what is now closed.
