so apparently we wont sign kabak, leipzig will and we'll sign konate and keep phillips..

Rather we sold phillips for 15mil and buy kabak
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'd prefer Kabak but if we're talking 5th choice then I guess they feel the £18m could be better sent elsewhere, and Phillips helps the homegrown numbers.

Absolutely ludicrous not to sign Kabak imo.

Phillips deserves to be kept.

If he wants to leave however that should be his choice also, would be first choice at a number of sides who play a deep line

Unless we know that Matip is not going anywhere

I personally would have bought Kabak and then send him out on loan for a season to a Newcastle, Southampton club than have him 4th/5th choice. Getting another year under his belt in the PL would have been beneficial.

Clearly it looks like Matip ain't leaving so our back 4 will include 3 injury prone, 1 coming back from a ACL and Nat.

To be honest the Matip stuff was entirely made up on this thread

Yeah.

"Joel, how do you fancy going back to Germany for a lot less money so we can purchase more reliable defenders"

This rebuild job couldn't have come at a worse time considering the whole pandemic and clubs not having money to spend on transfers.

Edwards can literally elevate himself to God status if he manages to pull it off.

Got to admit it’s somewhat hilarious that Matip is contracted until 2024.

I think everyone is looking at this years injury crisis and expecting it to be the same next year.

Virgil is only out because of a nasty challenge
Gomez is only out because of a nasty training incident

I dont think those two issues will replicate themselves next year

We can’t go another season relying on Gomez and Matips fitness. They’re always injured, although Gomez has been so unlucky over the years.

VVD coming back from probably the worst injury you can get and needs time to get back to his best, if he ever does. Have to have depth next season else it will be another struggle I’m afraid.

Didn’t help that Klopp went with Fabinho as his 4th choice centre back, only now realising he is an absolute must as a CDM.

A classic example of hindsight though. We were top of the league around Xmas and Fabinho had been one of the best CBs in the league. Our dip in form wasn't down to him not being in CM, it was down to us not creating chances and scoring goals.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We had Henderson in midfield to compensate for Fab to drop into CB. As soon as Hendo had to join Fab at the back it all fell to pieces.

I do like Bamford and he's become less profligate in front of goal. I wonder what he would go for.

Win tomorrow and we are fourth

Got to start quickly tomorrow. Don’t think my heart can take us going behind every game. Especially agaisnt Burnley’s tactics.

Early goal will do wonders or another 95th minute Allison overhead kick lol

Not keeping Kabak will be a mistake. Such a talented centre back for what is basically sod all in football transfer fees.

Depends really. The guy has played 9 league games and been ropey in a few of those (understandably).

If Konate is the one Klopp wants then I dont think it will be a bad thing.

He has been pretty astute in most of the games he's played though, and is the same age as Rhys Williams.

Think it's a shame tbh. £18m is so little nowadays, even if he didn't become a first team regular he could still be sold for more than that two or three years down the line

Is Humphreys around to do the match thread, if not I’ll have it up 2 hours before kick off and pre match build up

Let's hope Nick Pope is out injured. Usually had a blinder against us and his replacement is worse than Karius level.
