Game Day baby

posted on 29/10/22

I reckon we're going to smash Leeds tonight who look increasingly shiiiiiiiiit with every game from the little I have seen.

I also thoroughly dislike Jesse Marsch for no particular reason, so it'll be nice to put another nail in that frauds coffin.

Really should be winning comfortably tonight, Leeds are shiiitt.

Mind you we lost to the worst team in the league last weekend so who knows with us.

We're more than decent at home. 3-0 plus some sh!thousery from Nunez to wind up Marsch.

📺 Jurgen Klopp on Naby Keita:

"I think Naby will have a full pre-season with us (after the World Cup) and that will be perfect for him."

how many fecking times have we heard this

I’ve got a feeling we’re gonna need Keita in the second half of the season, especially if we don’t spend in January.

Apart from Thiago, he’s the only one in our midfield who can control a game and dictate the game, and with Thiago’s never ending injury problems we’re going to to need that for our top 4 hopes.

We should do everything to get Caicedo in January. He outplayed Chelsea midfield in the first half. Watch his pass for Brighton third goal.

Revolting performance from start to finish that and another deserved loss against relegation opposition.

My word how this team has declined. To be honest I was expecting a bit of drop off this season and said so in the summer but nothing anything like this. Truly staggering.

Serious inquest needed as we have massive problems.

For the diamond to work you need a strong dm who can dominate on the ball and off the ball. In a diamond you play the three very narrow and concede space outside.
A prime Busquets and Rodri at City and two number 8s like KDB, Silva, Iniesta. We don't have any of those.

Play a double pivot of Hendo and Thiago. A back four of Robbo, VVD, Konate and Gomez.
I don't want to see Elliott or Jones anymore in midfield. Dreadful performance from them.

Buy Caicedo in January. I don't care about Bellingham in the summer.

Said this since the first game of the season after Fulham. We played every single game possible last season, the way we play, the emotional team we are, the loyalty Klopp has to his players.

We are physically and mentally shattered. And It’s not going to change overnight.

We desperately needed to invest in the summer, and not just spend the money we recouped and replace Mane, we needed a fresh injection of energy and enthusiasm after a bitterly dissapointing end to the last campaign.

Unfortunately a combination of the frugal nature of the club hierarchy and Klopp's brutal stubbornness meant that we didn't do that (Carvalho should be no more than a squad player so we only really added Nunez, who's just been a bad signing so far).

It's just all incredibly stale and I include Klopp in that at this point.

The most baffling moment of the match for me was Klopp taking Trent off with 10 minutes to go, when we were chasing a goal and Trent was getting a lot of room high up the pitch, for James Milner.

What on earth was that decision about. And the goal came from the right side too.

Elliott is a player who only should have played the cup games. I can't understand why Klopp still persisting with Gomez, Trent and Elliott on our right hand side. Remember the Napoli game when they played together.
Those three aren't good enough defensively to play as a combination. It doesn't matter which formation we will always concede chances as long we play the same players who can't read danger or track runners.

FSG not investing in the team is the reason for this performances.

We got outran by 11 km today which is an embarrassment. The lack of workrate in this midfield is all clear to see for everyone. There were times when Thiago was battling against three Leeds players and no Fabinho or Elliott to be seen.

One of many bad subs Klopp has made this season, he's undeniably played his part in the mess we find ourselves, but it's a minor issue in the grand scheme of things.

I do agree with his post match comments about us being unable to control games though. Our whole system is built around being high tempo and high intensity yet we now get outrun by our opponents almost every week. Completely impossible to be winning matches regularly when that is happening, more so with our system than any.

A tired and aged squad really looks to be taking its toll. Are these players still physically capable of doing it? I'm starting to think they can't and that's it for them to be honest. It's going to require some big investment to get the players who can.

In the meantime, we need to adapt and change to what we have as a stopgap.Klopp said he realised after the Brighton game we had to scrap 4-3-3.
He may need to go further and rip up the whole system to be honest, at least temporarily.

4-3-3 was scrapped too easily for me. Its tried and tested and it works or had worked. It still covers all bases as opposed to this freestyle 4-2-4, Diamond and Xmas tree. Klopp makes the final call but alot of recent changes have come from Pep if you believe reports. I think Pep influence has expired like his shocking book.
