I think Jota is very lucky to have kept his place personally. Bit of continuity doesn't hurt though I guess.

Got a late ticket, usual fun with the smart turnstiles but in now. Klopp not a fan of Nunez is he.

This was the game for Nunez and Elliott but hopefully still a comfy win

The positive with Jota is that he can’t be any worse than last week so hopefully his touch is sharp today. Still not sure he can play with Diaz. Gakpo looks better in that false 9 with Diaz making those runs in behind.

Wasn't he top scorer in pre season?

Pre season mean very little, and all our forwards scored a lot in pre-season so I don't think you can judge on that

Definitely would have started Nunez. Seems to have fallen out of favour.

This early in the season it could be as simple as who has got their fitness levels highest. But tbh, I was expecting Jota to be benched as well.

No Toney, No Caicedo/Mac10 No problem. Just top managers. Brightons scouting too. Enciso is gonna be world class imo. Mitoma be next guy sold by them though, prob 100m+

Our build up was awful for their first goal. The double pivot were pressed, which means there was space on the right side were Szoboszlai was to receive the ball. I think we changed it with Mac Allister becoming the single pivot in the build up and this fixed our issues.

This will improve when we have Thiago in that double pivot as he can break the opposition pressing.

How did Endo look?

Considering he’s not trained with the team I thought he looked decent. Couple of nice touches, got shrugged off the ball a couples but once he’s up to speed in the Prem I think he’ll be what we need.

I don’t think he should start our biggest games if we signed another DM but I highly doubt we sign anybody else this window as much as I want to see another midfielder and a CB.

We need to log somewhere the bad and lucky decisions for and against us this season. There is already 3 bad decisions that went against us:

1) Konate getting kicked in the throat (remember the Skipp uproar last season)

2) Jackson volleyball. Had it been given there would not have even been any debate

3)Ridiculous red card

Honestly? I’m just not wishing to get my hopes up at this point and getting used to this being the team we have till January.

I think we’d do ok either way. Top 5 challenge.

Get a bit of momentum going and you never know. We do have a decent run of fixtures after Newcastle, all very winnable.

So looks like Diaz and Trent have picked up injuries to go with the possible suspension
