We could get through to January with AMA, Szoboszlai Jones, Thiago and Endo. We wouldn’t need to play them in the EL group games so can rotate the likes of Bajcetic, Elliot in those games.
It wouldn’t be ideal but if Andre is the right player and we can tie the deal up now then it sounds wise to me.

Knowing our luck he'd do his cruciate in December just before joining in January.

1 win against Bournemouth and our midfield is fine all of a sudden?
We still need to go semi strong in Europa. Need to win group so we can play 2 less fixtures and avoid CL dropouts.

Whens Bajcetic back and Thiago str8 to the treatment room Alcantara?

Thiago so injured that his injuries have injuries. Wonder why people keep asking about him when he'll very possibly be back on the treatment table no sooner he is out if it.
He'll fire us to trophies with the 20 or so apps he'll play this season. Hopefully he proves me wrong but I don't see it at the mo.

97 apps.
Going by minutes on the pitch he's played around 70 games for us over 3 years in all competitions. Average of 23.33333333333333333333... games over season in all competitions.
Look at it like this, season before last we played over 60 games so basically he's only played for us for 1 out of the 3 years. Other two years he was injured and just picked up the wages.

Not sure that's entirely fair as the over 60 games was exceptional and hardly anybody plays those sorts of minutes. What did our other midfielders do. I think the point being made is he isn't Sturbridge or Keita levels

I get that, and perhaps he isn't Keita/Ox levels but he's very close to that level, and was just to demonstrate how much football he misses. Surely, wouldn't you rather have a, let's say, Wijnaldum running everywhere and keeping our backline safe for 50 games a season instead of this guy? And even Wij had more attacking end product than Thiago, who hardly ever scores or assists, and isn't exactly pulling up trees defensively either.
Apart from keeping the physios busy he contributes much less than you'd expect from the average player while occupying a squad space and being our third best paid player on something like it close to 200k a week.
Getting someone like Andre on less than half the wages and more than double the game time and getting rid of Thiago would be a big step forward for us. People moan about how we've ignored the midfield but defend or whatabout about Thiago. We'd be much better off in midfield if he could stay fit. He is part of the problem, as we're Keita and Ox yet he gets nothing but excuses made for him.
But Thiago is here and I hope he has his best season for us this season fingers crossed.

Tbf didnt they reject a similar offer from Fulham? Is 25m peanuts to Fluminense ?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No, it would be a record profit on a player for them.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Makes more sense for them to sell to a Brighton/Fulham level club for 25m plus a sell on clause than it does to us at the same price.
He could stay with us his entire career and they'd never see a sell on payment but with Brighton/Fulham they're practically guaranteed another payday in a few years when he moves to a 'bigger' club

He could be the lovechild of Zidane and Ronaldinho, but even Zidane and Ronaldinho would have problems contributing to games from the treatment table. You'd be better off having the lovechild of Henderson and Wijnaldum who is always available to play.
So we win more games during the 23 games he plays per season? That's a very small sample of games to derive any meaningful indication from that stat, and it's a small sample of games for obvious reasons, which kinda enforces my point.
Mamba absolutely screaming for attention so coming back for another nibble.
The sample size is 97 games. Stop talking about 23 games, it's a number you've literally made up.
I want to know who's next though. I'm guessing VVD or Alisson.
Hey, look at meeeeeeeeee, I'm contrary, look at meeeeeeeeee.

Agreed. I don't doubt his quality, and he's been great when he's had a few games under his belt, but the stop start nature of his availability just doesn't work and hurts his game and the team as well. Players get injured but him, Ox and Keita are too much.

Why?
Is Nat Phillips constantly injured? Nope. How's his minutes looking? Shiiiiiiiiit.
He's on £68k a week.

Thiago has played 97 games for us in three years. Would I like more? Of course, he's superb, but is it like he's never available? Obviously not.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not sure that's entirely fair as the over 60 games was exceptional and hardly anybody plays those sorts of minutes. What did our other midfielders do. I think the point being made is he isn't Sturbridge or Keita levels
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I get that, and perhaps he isn't Keita/Ox levels but he's very close to that level, and was just to demonstrate how much football he misses.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Ye lots of that is fair. He's certainly failed to live up to his potential and injuries have played their part in that. But he is clearly a very talented and classy player and if we can get him close to his best then I think he could be worth a league place or two.

Yeah, your spin won't work on me I'm afraid.
He's played in 97 games over three years and we demonstrably win more games when he's available.
That's all there is too it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He could be the lovechild of Zidane and Ronaldinho, but even Zidane and Ronaldinho would have problems contributing to games from the treatment table.
