I think a lot of the CBs of the 90s and 00s should count themselves lucky they never played in the social media era, because you see the nostalgia all the time whereby people act like Terry or Ferdinand never made mistakes.
You make a mistake today and it's gone viral on Twitter with 10 minutes.

u watch old games and see these so called gr8s getting rinsed all the time.
Saliba has natural quality, nowhere near as good in the air on on the ball as vvd but closest to him i've seen in recent times. Hes been sus this season though but for his age understandable. The age makes him more impressive, 23 and that good already.

Saliba
He has a long long way to go before he can even be considered.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah I accept left field due to longevity but I just think he's a much better centre back than Stones and the others in the next tier down and will no doubt continue at the level for years to come, even getting better.
Sounds like Isak is a doubt for tomorrow night. He's up there with the best finishers in the league for me (when fit) so that could be great for us.
Can the culer method be implemented for any tier discussion please?

Rio is the classic. He made so many mistakes without the microscope. Sometimes his pace would save him but other times he was punished.

I have seen his ability on the ball get overrated also recently. Yes he wasn't awful on the ball and could move it around and was mobile but he wasn't a Terry, pinging balls with either foot to the wings etc.
There was a twitter thread a couple of months ago of someone fed up with the narrative that these guys never made mistakes which focuses on Vidic, and some of the mistakes were downright laughable.
Obviously a top player and mistakes happen, but he was constantly tripping over his own feet or falling over because a winger skinned him, and you wonder what the reaction would be if that was happening to a CB in today's game.
Hes a 9/10 in every category imo, none of the other pl greats have that, they fall short in atleast one
vvd not rio obviously
best way to put it is if you swapped van dijk for any of those other greats how would we have fair, i think worse for a certainty, rios probably the only one who had the required pace, but he falls short in other categories
Van Dijk outclasses each and every one of them tbh

We've had one away match for the whole of November so I'm a bit nervous about tonight tbh

Me too. I think it’s maybe because if we manage to win the next two, we’ll likely be in a very strong position indeed. A dare to believe anxiety or sommat.
Keep a clean sheet and we should be able to grab a goal though.

Yeah that’s the way I see it too given the way we play this season.
Although typically we score more than one goal
We will win tonight 3-1 I think but Everton away is going to be brutal. Last game at Goodison too.

We should have far too much for them, I’m far more worried about injuries than the result there.
It’s a 12:30 which is probably going to benefit us massively as the atmosphere will likely be a little more muted.
I'm more worried about Joelinton than anyone in that Everton side tbh
