This is why he doesn't want to be 3rd choice. He knows he'll be a starter somewhere else, e.g. Napoli

For sure, but it's one of those things you KNOW you have to suffer and ideally compensate for if you sign an African player who plays Internationally for his country.

We'll be hard pressed with one potential member of the squad leaving for ACON. With two it would be an additional strain of our resources, should Verm eventually leave.

Basel defender Fabian Schar is a player that tickles my chaffinch, he'd be a decent option I think.
