Why do people want Benzema? He misses a hat full of chances every game for real. Considering he plays with Bale, Ronaldo Di Maria ect he isnt much ahead of Giroud in terms of scoring and we all know its way easier to score in la liga than the PL.

We should keep TV. we have other areas which need new players. If TV goes CB will become another must. I'd rather lose him for free next season

Hmmm... Now I'm not tubthumping here, for or against, just giving my thoughts, for what they're worth.

Benzma has actually done very well at Madrid. Regularly scoring goals. Granted, in a team with so many quality players, any forward should make the best of the opportunities they'll be afforded in abundance!

Benzema doesn't (usually) play in his preferred position at Madrid. Having Ronaldo up top means that everyone has to work around him, understandably so.

Benzema is a natural centreforward. What are his best attributes? IMO, he's naturally a strong lad & can mix it up with defenders. He's not Henry-quick, but he can certainly shift and most of all, he's got goals in him. Add to the mix that he's experienced at the top level, very likely has his best years in front of him and will (you'd have thought) relish the chance to be 'the main man' at a new club, should he move(that will never happen at Madrid).

I don't know if Arsenal want or would move for Benzma, or if Madrid would be open to selling him?

But I do believe that his natural-game and style would be very compatible with Arsenal's attacking dynamic and vice/versa.

Can't really see Arteta going and although Flamini doesn't seem to have ousted him I think Wenger will stick with those two next season.

Wenger needs a top-class forward, for sure, Benzema is okay but I can't help but feel we could do better.

See, in an ideal World, it'd be nice to have carte blanch and go in for a Falcao/Costa/Cavani etc...

The reality is, a variation of;

. Wages (Falcao & Cavani are reportedly on about 300k pw)
. Their transfer fees will inevitably be very big (but that's not specifically the problem)
. Their hot property & should the likes of Man City, PSG, Chelsea etc make a play for the said player, it's inevitably only going one-way, nobody can compete with the (almost) 'unlimited funds' that these clubs are prepared to pay in terms of transfer-fees, wages and bonus incentives for the player & more often than not their agent(s).

There's always the option to take a punt on a player who looks decent but isn't considered top-class (yet). Maybe they're playing in a weaker League. Maybe they've only just burst onto the scene etc...

But understandably, a lot of Arsenal fans are seriously dubious about signing this type of player. They WANT someone who they're as sure as eggs will score goals for fun, a household name, someone who will frighten the opposition by their mere presence on a teamsheet.

For me, Benzema is probably the most realistic player who is arguably 'top class' who Arsenal MIGHT have a chance of getting. Even then, it wouldn't be easy.

Martinez' lack of pace would be a bit of a problem in the " ten men forward, ten men back" style employed by english sides IMO. He has a good head for reading the game, but for any english side, having him would require a substantial shift in squad dynamics.

Seldom enough I do agree with you but in that case you are spot on.

I dont want Benzema either at Arsenal.

Moist, Benzema had an awful start of this season and when RM raised their game as a team and they played on top he scored regularly and being consistent good in him performances. The last few weeks it was like Boss said: woeful in front of goal and not visible. He is not consistent enough in his performances over a whole long season.

Gonna have to disagree with you on this one GT I'm afraid.

I actually think Benzema could/would be very good playing as an out-&-out centreforward for Arsenal. Regardless, like I have said, I don't know that Arsenal would be in for him or if Madrid would be open to selling him. Unless they sign another forward I would imagine it's a non-starter anyway.

But anyone saying we need a player of higher/proven ability than Benzema? You're going into the realms of competing with Chelsea, Man City & PSG. Now I'd love that, but sadly we all know it's just not a realistic proposition, don't we?

What we should have done was signed Dzeko last year when he was out of favour!

I think he'd be a smash at Arsenal. But can you imagine City or Chelsea selling Arsenal any of their assets now?

If Real had a better striker then Benzema they would have won LaLiga already imo.

Despite scoring 2 against Barca the fool actually missed another 3-4 simple chances.
Against Seville he was woeful missing easy chances and to be honest hes done it all season.

Yes hes better than Giroud but not by much imo. One things for certain hes no RVP, Rooney, Suarez, Costa, Martinez, Lewandowski ect.

I would have likes us to sign Dzeko hes a good player who can miss chances but doesnt let it affect his confidence.

Javi Martinez is not slow, dont know where people get this from. He has good pace and i even saw him keep up with Bale in the CL game. Hardly an arteta.

You do speak quite matter of factly. I take on board what you say and enjoy getting different perspectives. Costa & Lewandowski are a couple of belters this campaign for sure.

I obviously rate Benzema a lot higher than yourself. I also think that his game is much more suited to the way Arsenal set-up offensively, than where he currently plays at Madrid. Potentially I really do think he could be an absolute superstar. I'm still dubious any move has legs anyway.

Goal.com running a story we have bid 32m for di Maria. Guy is class but I'd prefer the bulk of the budget spent on a CF.
Re Dzeko, I believe he is a better poacher than many forwards (certainly better than Giroud in this regard) but his all round game leaves a lot to be desired.

I rate Dzeko, did before he moved to Citteh. But they would NEVER sell him to us, or ANY of their assets.
