Not saying Alonso necessarily, more a player like Alonso. I know you're not his biggest fan Gazza.

We need Matic plus a tall strong box to box playmaker.
I think the likes of Pogba, Kroos even Sami Khedira fits that bill

Kroos and Fabregas would be my choices. Both are exactly what we need.

Surely a Kroos-Matic partnership in CM would have a bit of everything we're looking for .

Fabregas hates Jose and I'm sure Jose feels the same though that won't stop Jose bidding for him if he believes he's the one. I like the look of Pogba. If we sign him and add Balotelli to Costa I can see a season of red cards and fights. We're gonna kick the fck out of everyone.
On a serious note I wonder if Luiz Fillipe from Atletico is coming rather than Shaw as our link to the latter has gone very quiet

First choice would always be Modric, second Pogba for me, too talented skillful and powerful to ignore for a 21 year old.

This season Pogba has played Pirlo's "Regista" role, and he has done it at times spectacularly. That said, he is probably best as a box to box player. He is not similar to Matic at all, Matic is less technically gifted, more talented when it comes to defending.

Those two together would be amazing, and I disagree with people who say we need a deep lying play maker. Matic and Pogba together would work similar to Yaya Toure and Fernandinho.

I see Kroos as more of a clever creative, playmaker type who can dictate tempo.

So not really too similar to Matic who is more of the braun of the operation with excellent physical attributes.

I'm not saying that our playmaker needs to be deep lying. He can be the more attacking of the two CM.

That's how I would see Kroos and Matic working, with Matic the more defensive and deeper lying of the two and Kroos the more attacking and playmaker type playing slightly further forward in CM.

Superb the lack of pace. Matic is quick over long distances but in terms of turning and accelerating he isn't quick. Neither is Kroos.

Also I'm not sure that pace in CM is as important as you keep saying.

Looking back at some of the comments on this article there's no doubt that as a fan base we like to overcomplicate things for some reason, certainly on this site anyway.

In a nutshell what we need is two really good CM's.

We already have one in Matic and now we need another. I don't really care who we get as long as he is a very good player and fits into the side.

I think we can all agree on that.

Pogba would also count as a home-grown player

Word is rapheal varane is on his way from real madrid

Do we need Varane ?

We have so many players who can play CB - Terry, Cahill, Brana, Kalas, Zouma and Chalobah.

Would much rather concentrate on sorting out CM and strikers first. If there is money left over for Varane then great.
