Stadium Entry Shambles..

Just the farce with the coaches, parking, an hour to crawl around the complex before parking, an hour stuck in the coach park after the game.

If someone provides an address/contact, I will tell Wembley about this absolute horrific shambles at the home of our National Stadium. The area is embarrassing, the approach roads are 'third world' and no traffic management.

I got into the ground at 2.50pm ish but that did involved a semi-run from coach park (yellow) to turnstile.

Absolute disgrace but still, don't worry eh? They've got our money, they won't see the likes of us, Rotherham or Burton anytime soon.

I got through turnstile k at about 1:45 no issue at all - but we had two kids so wanted to get in early... Right at the back! Awesome view but a looong way to climb!

We were fine arriving in the car (Red car park) but getting out was an absolute shambles, around an hour and a half to crawl to the M1 ffs. Joke stadium.

agree - joke stadium, joke infrastructure - is this our presentation to the world when we play internationals?

Appalling.

When we get to the FA Cup final, I'm parking up well away from that hell-hole and tubing it in.

This farce took the gloss off the day for us,...only to have the paint completely sanded down by 5.0pm i hasten to add.

Very, very minor gripe in the context of things, but did anyone else have their bottle tops on their drinks confiscated before the game ?
We spent the game with our feet in puddles of sticky liquid and our outer clothes under the seats were soaked, after the bottles toppled over.
I offered to let the guy try the drinks for hidden explosives or alcohol, but he refused.
Wierd !

No, but I wasn't allowed to take a beer up to my seat. I'm switching to Rugby

We had the same coach issues getting in and out..
This is a new stadium, yet the road infrastructure seems to be from the 50's ! .. Is it like that for every event they hold at Wembley?!

Re the game,
well frankly, we got what we deserved.. goals like the one Zamora scored are always likely to happen in a tense, one off game.. and it was no secret what they were trying to do.. but we are the league's highest scorers and we should have been 2 or 3 up by then..
We weren't.. we lost..
I was prepared (as much as I could be) for us to lose and I never thought it could be worse than '94.. but it was !

Overall though we've had a fantastic season and if you'd said to me at the start that we'd be in this position, I'd have took that..

One more thing and I know I won't get many agreeing with me on this.. but fair play to Joey Barton at the final whistle.. I expected him to go cartwheeling down to the Rangers fans, but he didn't, he went over and put an arm around Bryson and a few consolatory hand shakes to other Rams players before celebrating ..

We went down the M40, parked at Hillingdon station, went on the Metropolitan tube, which goes to Wembley Park station.

We stopped of at Harrow-on-the-Hill and went to the Castle which had Rams supporters and QPR fans chatting to each other. Had a few drinks and a good meal, then got a taxi to the ground.

Had a great day, except for one thing.

Ricky: if you only attempted to get in the Stadium at 2:30 and the general advice was to allow 15 to 20 minutes to get to your seat, you had missed the build up anyway.

Anyone who has ever been to the old or new Wembley by coach knows that if is inadequate for access to and from the venue.

We travelled by overground train and arrived for 12 and had a brilliant pre match. Whilst depressed on the way home we had two beer stops and was sill home for 9:30.

Automatic promotion next year please Steve.

Yes this happened to us in 2007 - this time Dad just ran past them

Yes Milf, Third world scenario. On the long slow way in - Bad roads, housing neglected and falling down, weeds everywhere. Slow traffic, Cheerful fans. Took over an hour.

On the way out, just the same except crying fans and more traffic misery.

As for the result! Our tactics were slightly wrong. They defended really well. In spite of scoring several goals from distance all season we tried to walk it in. Almost nobody tried a long distance shot. But the lads played really, really well. Everyone of them. Bucko and Keogh were tremendous. Keogh can hod his head high and we can go on from here.

That's it, we just need to dust ourselves down, replace any non-returning loanees and carry on exactly as we have been. Champions next year

Red for 50.

I think you are correct. The problem is - football fans will put up with anything. The current totally uneven distribution of Rupert's and BT's hundreds of millions is a case in point. It is not only unfair - it also gives rise to much trouble and corruption.

All in all, my Wembley experience was good, got to the Bobby Moore entrance at 2:20, got a pint in my hand at 2:30 got in my seat at 2:40, aisle seats right by the exits, legged it right on full time, got on train at 5:20 and in Birmingham at 6:45, one declaration I made yesterday was, if I get to go to Wembley again, it won't be on a coach.....

if they'd built it at St Georges park....that would be even bigger nightmare getting 88k people away from....the trains and underground work like clockwork and easy to use....st Georges park doesn't have a railway station and only the A38 to nearby

The stadium should have been built somewhere around the NEC in Birmingham surely, slap bang in the middle of the country with all the infrastructure in place

I applauded and sang all afternoon, thank you.

St George's location looks to have been chosen for cheap land, albeit plenty of it, and no other reason, certainly not public transport access.

As Ricky says, a national stadium near the NEC and Birmingham airport with St George's nearby would have been complete joined up thinking.

Well done

What about after we had lost the game - did you bother to stay and appreciate their efforts over the season?
