i can't see it i think his contract will just run down. he won't move unless something more lucrative comes up.
i mean ok you get a 2-3 year deal on 50k per week.. but if you can run out a one year deal at 100k then get the same 2-3 years at 50k off someone like qpr or whomever... you know it makes sense to just run it out especially when a bigger slice of the signing pie is available on a free.
for me we should use him in CL and then play flanagan and/or wisdom in the league.
agree owen, he will probably see his contract out and then leave next year and get a huge signing on fee. He is only 30 and still could probably go 3 or 4 more years, but i do not think he is good enough for a top 6 team any more let alone top 4. Would any other top 6 team want him to replace their current right backs? No, so why should he be a our starting RB. If he stays and doesnt return to form in the early weeks of next season ill bench him for Flanno or Wisdom and let him see his contract out sitting on the bench.
We cannot rest on our laurels and its not going to be easy to get top four next season, we have a chance now with CL footy to get better quality players and we shouldnt dither in the market. We need a few top class players to try and cement our place in the top four, if we fail to we will regret it for a long long time.
But Brendan seems to know what he wants, so lets see how the summer pans out.
rather start flanno over him, atleast he gives a fůck
I would happily see Johnson go. He has been poor this season and has no urgency at all when he, regularly, loses possession.
Gives the ball away again and again. Mixes it with some very good forward play but that's quite erratic to at times. Probably past his best now.

He was always a liability at the back. Didn't seem to have the same impact going forward this year as he seemed to before, but that may be more down to the style of play. I really doubt he doesn't care about the team any more as some folks think.
Saying that, the back four needs a massive overhaul so is have no problem seeing him replaced

Bring in a LB, which will allow Flanno to play RB, start Flanno and hope Johnson decides to up his game and challenge for the spot because no one is going to pay his wages so we're stuck with him.
Johnson is useless unless he has a someone next to him telling him where to be, he improved last year playing next to Carra.

Don't forget he's playing at LB, which isn't his favoured position, I've seen many fullbacks who struggle a lot when on the opposite side, so I think Flanno will be better in the RB role.
Also if we have Johnson, Flanno, Wisdom and Kelly(Plus maybe a few youth team players) are going for the same spot they'll always be under pressure to perform.
The Crystal Palace game was the final straw for me. He had the good going forward asset but last season he was useless (even more USLESS than Cissokho). At least Cissokho could defend but Johnson has never been able to do that.
I'd rather persist with Flanno, Wisdom and that young Northern Irish kid next season if we are not to buy a new RB and Johnson is intent in running down his contract.

Johnson seems to be the whipping boy amongst a lot of fans. You don't earn 50 caps and play in 3 major international tournaments if you're as bad as some of the divvies on this forum make out.

Greatteams.
Some players are criticized whatever they do and however well they play. Johnson and Neville are good examples. To be fair, I'm the same with Skrtel - I think he's gash.
This is Johnson's first poor season imo. He is a bit injury prone, but when fit, since he joined he has been one of our most consistent performers. When he was injured we usually missed him.
I think some fans have forgotten this.
Given his big wage, and some promising young players coming through in his position, I could see him being moved on, which I wouldn't complain about.
However, I'm more concerned with the other FB position which certainly needs looked at. Flanno has done a great job there and can provide cover, but we need another option in this position.
One poor season and that's it, ship him out. Crazy how fickle some are. He's given us great service and he should be allowed to prove it was just a poor season, injuries etc.
If not, then the decision should be made.
Glen has peaks and troughs of games with a few bad ones in a row that mean people then say he is not good enough. If he can maintain consistency then I think he still has a future at Liverpool.
