Shine - Baines, Sterling
Flop - Gerrard, Hart
I think you'll see the Liverpool players fail to perform - not through their own doing, but because of the tactics that Hodgson will employ.
I think we are all looking to the Liverpool players for big things, because of their form this season, but such a big part of that is how Rodgers has got them playing.
I also think you'll see Baines look out of his depth. He's great when his team have lots of possession and going forward.. again, not something that's likely to be the case in a Hodgson team.
I think Cahill will have a good tournament.
Shine; Sterling
Fail: Rooney
I think your right Winston, i can see our defensive players shining, Sterling, i'm not so sure about, at international level, those defenders are intelligent enough to deal with pace merchants.
I think the heat will play a big factor. Henderson and Sterling press really high for liverpool and they put defenders under pressure.
I am not sure if Henderson will be able to play his 'Run Forest run' role he plays at Liverpool due to the heat. He will end up running around like a mad dog with his tongue hanging out
Shine: Rooney, Gerrard
Flop: Jagielka
You have to remember that these players are coached/trained every day at their clubs and their manager knows exactly what each player is capable of and how to get the best out of them. You get the impression with Hodgson that he’ll just tell the Sterling’s, Lallana’s, Sturridge’s of this world to go out and play and expect them to hit their club form. It doesn’t work like that
If fit, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will shine.
No-one will flop, although some may not meet the high expectations unrealistically placed on them.
Sterling to shine.
Wilshere to flop
I don't rate the defenders in the England side and the attackers (midfield and strikers who will create attacks) seem to be well enough. So for some reason, I think the former will shine while the latter fail. And it's more to do with Roy than the players.
