I would have considered the following and made proper attempts for them before Pochettino
(in no particular order):
FDB
Benitez
Laudrup
Martinez (we could pry him from Everton if we wanted)
Ranieri
Allegri
Even facking Moyes
before Pochettino.
I'm sure if I actually do some research I could come up with a list of 20...
Why do we always have to settle?
OP are you serious ?
You should be thanking your lucky stars you got Pochettino. Top class manager and a huge step up from Sherwood.
What has Laudrup done to make you think he's any better than Pochettino?
Ranieri failed with a bottomless pit of cash at Monaco..
Before we get on to Moyes

Bookmarked GBM, got a feeling you're gonna be eating your words on this one.
Enjoy your glass half empty.

Look I'm not saying Pochettino will fail or that I want him to... Like I said I'm hoping for the best and wish him the best.
But he's not the choice I'd have made.
If he succeeds, great, if not I won't be batting an eyelid when he leaves.
IMO he's got nothing on AVB!! So I don't see the point of any of this...
We're just playing the lottery hoping we get lucky... There's no logic behind any of this...
"FDB / Allegri"
The new Ramos ??
"Benitez"
Possibly.
"Laudrup"
No different to Pochettino on PL delivery ??
"Martinez (we could pry him from Everton if we wanted)"
Could we (Levy etc) ??
"Ranieri"
Yes.
"I'm sure if I actually do some research I could come up with a list of 20"
Feel free to do so.
"Why do we always have to settle?"
He cost Levy nothing.

Its these types of fans that give our club a bad name, a know nothing about football just make silly comments.
Even fans from other clubs agree that Poch is an excellent coach and we are very lucky to have him!
----
So Topgeezah... What makes Poch "an excellent" coach?
Leaving Espanyol rock bottom destined for relegation or finishing 8th with Southampton??
Which one of these achievements support you arguments
You might want to learn your facts before you come up with shiite like this OP.
His 'failure' at Espanyol came after he took them from being relegation candidates to a strong mid-table team, despite having any real resources. He did it by developing the youth players. The only reason results went downhill in his third season was because they had to sell all their best players as they were massively in debt. During his time there he won plaudits from many, including Guardiola.
He's a gamble, but so is any manager...at least this one has experience and coaching badges, the last we can do is give him time and get behind him
GBM
Are you still convinced Sherwood was our best PL manager?

Again settling... Just bcos that idiot Levy hired that idiot Sherwood, doesn't mean we have to settle for any 2 bit manager with badges. Jaysis
I'm not saying Poch is a bad coach... He obviously isn't. But like I said he wouldn't be my choice. Simple as that.
Good luck to him!!

No doubt you were one of the idiots saying give Sherwood a chance
Nothing to do with settling, more realism.
Half the names on your list have no PL experience, others have hardly set the world alight when they were here. Only Martinez and Benitez are decent options...but why would they put themselves in Levy's firing line when they don't need to?
PL experience... How much of this does Poch have.
Not much more that AVB when he joined us, so why exactly are people using this as a plus.
Did he need PL experience to get Southampton playing well?? So why is everyone banging on about this?
Did Ancelloti or Pellegrini or Mourinho need PL experience to take the league in their first seasons.
A quality manager will get the job done where ever he goes.
but why would they put themselves in Levy's firing line when they don't need to?
--
Did we even approach them... If we approached these managers and they said no... that's fine. But to settle for Poch, I'm sorry I can't swallow that and be content... Simple

Not much more that AVB when he joined us, so why exactly are people using this as a plus.
Didn't you mention Benitez as an option?
Did he need PL experience to get Southampton playing well?? So why is everyone banging on about this?
No, he's a good coach but he will be better for having more experience in this league
Did Ancelloti or Pellegrini or Mourinho need PL experience to take the league in their first seasons.
Just how much money do you think we have?
A quality manager will get the job done where ever he goes.
Real Madrid might not entirely agree with that one...remember Jose?
Topgeezah
Why bother?? Regardless of if he starts well or not all managerial appoints end the same way. So I'll will essentially win this (if this were a bet and it isn't) we just don't know how long it will take...
But given our track record it shouldn't take that long

It sounds like your issues stretch beyond Pochettino and you're using the as an outlet

I have no issues with Poch... He appears to be a decent coach.
I have issues with the club, cos it has no direction whatsoever. We're just randomly putting people in charge, hoping we score big without taking the proper care or relevant factors into consideration.
So yes my issues with the club stretch well beyond Pochettino (who I have no problem with)

I remember Jose winning the League and the cup in his time there breaking several long standing records along the way... so what's your point.
Also the points you make in reply to my other questions are flimsy at best
