My mobile phone cost the same as my car and I'm sure my car is more valuable.
Silva is way more valuable than Ozil. As for Sterling he's good enough for any team already and is still a teen. Guaranteed 15 years of top player. That should be worth a lot.
I do not agree in anyway shap or form with regards to Zil and Silva.
That's silly money for Sterling but I imagine age has played a factor???

No player is guaranteed 15 years at the top, there have been better players than Sterling who have fizzled out after a great start and better players who have never been the same after the 1st big injury.
I hope the lad plays at the top for 15 years but it's far from certain.
Values are all down to what someone is willing to pay and how much the players club wants to hold out for.
Player values are measured by many variables that are not directly linked to the individual’s ability; age, length of current contract, clauses in their terms etc.
I can't take the article too seriously with Wilshire £36m and Giroud £30m.
I don't see how age can be used to add or subtract value to a player. Torres was worth £50m as a 24 year old but his value at 27 years old (the prime age for a footballer) was less than half that.

Could Sterling go the same way as original Ronaldo, Owen and more than likely Rooney. Broke through earpy and as the near 30 drop in form as injuries and games take their toll??
I didn't read past the first line of this article - David Silva for 33m? That's less than Andy Carroll

I think it can can't it. There are market forces involved for sure, image rights as well from better known players and so on, but if you had, hyperthetically, the exact same levell of player but one is likely to play five years longer as he is younger that's got to be a factor hasn't it?

For sure and if you look at players like Ronaldinho I think you have to factor in desire to keep playing at the top as well.

Torres is one of the ‘exceptions’ to the rule as he has not performed as he did when he was younger.
Fairly understandable however at a younger age clubs are paying for potential and an also an investment – sell on at 25 will naturally be more than a sell on at 30+
The point I was making is that many clubs have bought 'potential' at a high price and have taken a hit.

Very true. None more so than Arsenal. Expect losses were by way of wages than fees.
Buying young potential and being unable to shift them due to the high wages they were paying them. Only just got rid of Bendtner despite trying to offload him for the best part of five years.

I guess any talented young player could be used as an example, shouldn't have used Stirling. I know what you say about desire to play on, Giggs and Maldini are the exceptions.
More seem to fall away than continue on after 30.
Maybe better coaching and player management will ensure less burn out
Shaun Wright Phillips was as good, if not better than Sterling at the same age and Chelsea stumped up £24m for him only to see his form plummet.

the values are from this report, not the newspaper, OP
The Express are taking credit for it and making it sound like a definative list.
Can't see the problem with Ozil's value, thought his pass for think it was our 4th was world class, we may have struggled to get more than 5 without his efforts. Well worth every penny
I also read that Kyle Walker is worth substantially more than Pablo Zabaleta.
