The Ecuadorian players got surprisingly aggressive. There was a lot of intent in Chamberlain's injury. Not to mention Antonio Valencia's attack on Sterling.
Just as long as he is back in time for pre-season I am ok with the situation.
No egg today ?

This occasion is too sombre to warrant an egg. I'm not a monster!

I must admit, I thought exactly that.
I'm all for players being competitive, but a lot of the Equadorian lads did seem to play with a fair bit of malice, especially in the 2nd half.
our British players just seem to get injury after injury, Theo, Gibbs, Jack & Ox. Getting to the stage where we can't rely on them especially since we rely on them so much.

Every match you play should be competitive, providing it's not against children. But they become dangerous with experienced players physically harming younger ones intentionally. If more of the world were watching there would be more questions asked about that.
And don't think I'm biased either. I'm very vocal about my disdain for our national side.
Didn't watch the game but everyone said Barkley was the best player on the pitch!
Goodness he's almost getting more hype than wilshere did!

He did well, but (again, imo) he wasn't the best player on the pitch.
Like a few of the young lads (Ox included) he made a small handful of errors, bad decision making in key areas. You have to expect that.
I thought he played well, but looked like he was ready for the morgue after 60 minutes.
Hodgson saying he thought Lampard and Rooney 'were immense'!!!!
For me they were (apart from the back 4 who were poor for the best part) by far the least influential England players on show.
Surprised by Barkley getting so much praise. Did much of what he does for Everton - looked promising, ran well and showed flashes of quality but his decision making is suspect and the end product isn't there as much. The assist was a misplaced pass, although it worked out well as Lambert had no choice but to absolutely twát it. Still young enough to improve on those aspects and he will be a cracking player but he shouldn't be near the starting XI imo.
He should be in the starting XI as this year will be a write-off. Why play experienced players who are both over the hill and unlikely to feature in 2018? Better to build for the future than to cling to a failed past. Starting Barkley will improve him.

Sadly that isn't how England manager's think.
No it isn't. Nor do they have any interest in this thing called the beautiful game. If it's not the Battle of Highbury, they're not interested in it.
It could be a grade 1 tear that only rules him out for 10 days or so.

I feel sorry for OX. The guy fell on him with intent and should've been sent off. I doesn't look that bad, but no one knows until the scan result comes out. Him and Barkley were the best players.
Will there be egg tomorrow?

There's a 75% chance that there will be.

I can live with that

I've been keeping my egg-powder dry. The market is very volatile and I'm not in the business of trying to compete with those who irresponsibly throw eggs on public forums like rice at a wedding.
If I see an opportunity that warrants an egg, or a relevant emoticon, I assure you, I'll do everything in my power to use it.
Will starting Barkley really improve him? If we crash out in the group stages and everyone gets criticised, or he has a poor tournament, there's every chance it could affect him. Even if he does well, expectations will increase and it's unfair on him.
Plus describing any world cup as a write off is ludicrous. It's THE biggest football event in the world still, and we can still do well without coming close to winning it. What if Greece had that attitude in 2004? And is Barkley really any more deserving of starting for the experience than Ox, Sterling or Lallana? Not imo and it's unfair on those three to be missing out on the biggest event in their careers.

Completely agree Bestie. This is the 2014 World Cup, not the 2018 one
