I am quite possibly sounding off and being over-reactionary, but it's difficult not to be frustrated and fear the worst.
Of course, I hope my trepidation proves needless. I think it's inevitable however our rivals are only going to get stronger, when they had/have the edge over us currently, which means in terms of Arsenal strengthening their squad, well, they really need to pull out all the stops or they won't just stay static, they'll end up falling further & further behind

Chelsea don't mince around when they are linked to players.
They usually sign them
------------------------------------------------------------
That's our problem sometimes though, we aren't even after a player sometimes until the media link us with them.
did you expect rivals not to buy anyone though, they will always buy great players.. I don't agree that our rivals are guaranteed to be stronger, teams very often regress and get worse just as much as they get stronger. if teams got stronger all the time the best PL team wouldn't be from 10 years ago! Wenger not buying Cesc is completely unexpected but it's a strong and decisive move which makes me think he knows what he's doing and has a plan. but it's June 5 ffs!
Isn't Gadizis suppose to be a Dein replacement? So why can't we blame him for lack of activity, Dein just use to get on with it and get the players..
I think that some are over reacting in regard to this window.
While I do share concerns, Gazidis did highlight during the AST Q&A that the club are actively working on a number of deals.
IMO in light of the springboard the cup win will hopefully provide, and the resource available, it is inconceivable that the club will not do the necessary business required this summer.
This weeks Arsecast Extra, (well worth a listen btw, especially during these footie podcast-free summer months) made a very interesting point... That being, when City first came into their filthy, stinking oil money, (they perhaps phrased it a little nicer than I just did) the first club they looked to 'take down' was Everton as they were the club there or thereabouts hanging around just under the top 4, thus the Champions League qualification places.
Chelsea were the club that finished just above us last season...

No, Dein was a board member who happened to dabble in the transfer area as a man who advised or put subtle pressure on Wenger.
Gazidis is the chief executive.
Wenger completely dominates the playing side of the club, to a dangerous level in my view, if you think others are deciding who and how much we spend on them you're mad.
Why do you think they always talk about how much money there is for "Arsene", it's to make him spend.
Passion
I feel that it is difficult to compare the roles Dein and Gazidis perform (ed) for the club.
The landscape has changed so much for a start, and up until recently Gazidis was financially restricted which was never the case with Dein.
Coupled with the oilies and United’s spending power it is improbable that Dein would have fared any better than Gazidis.
Gazidis got a lot of criticism for contracts running down and not spending but that was just because of the way our finances were then and he had to work within that, the club will be more proactive now with more money to spend.
Wenger has finally realised he has to spend alot to even stay in touch of the top clubs. Take this year for example if Ozil wasn't bought I think Everton would of piped them to 4th.
I appreciate those of you who think people like myself are maybe being a bit knee-jerk. I actually consider myself as a patient and (hopefully) realistic guy and football fan.
I just feel that this summer (yeah, we say it EVERY summer) is absolutely CRUCIAL!
If the club adopts it's usual transfer policy, instead of taking an affirmative, aggressive approach in the transfer market (which has been alluded to by Gazidis), then I'm pretty certain we'll struggle next campaign and sow the seeds for the club to fall further behind...
There's very real consequences in both the short & longterm with regards to what Arsenal do, or don't do this summer! We're all entitled to out opinion, but I'm of the mind that that's the stone cold reality!
