Got there in the end, GB.
I would agree with that. We need to stick a man on Pirlo. Sadly I cannot see us going with a diamond. Roy's never played it and he's not gonna do it on his first game at a world cup, even though it might be the best tactic to play.
You seen tonight's lineup? Looks like that could be what we start with against Italy, sadly, as I'd like to see the Ox (if he's fit) or Sterling start against them.
If, and it's looking like it will, Rooney and Welbeck are going to start against Italy I'd switch Welbeck into the centre and Rooney to the left.
Rooney is better on the ball but Welbeck has the pace, fitness and discipline to stick to Pirlo, and this could free up the likes of Lallana, Rooney and Sturridge in the forward positions - especially if we win the ball high up.
Haven't seen the line up actually.
TUX, no I'm talking about the tactics we need to use to combat Italy. You're talking about Palace.
I'm sure Roy is thinking 'I know I won't worry about the threat Italy pose because Palace got a couple of flukey wins against big prem teams and we could do the same', because that's effectively your only contribution to this conversation.
Same team that started against Peru.
With a bit of luck Jones will start at RB

Italy will have to do the same to Gerrard, Forza.

you can't pull Pirlo forward any more than you can do that with Gerrard now or you could with Scholes in his last season

It's the Uruguay game you must get right, your match against Italy is a certain draw.
Their back four vs our back four.

Italy haven't won in seven games, and they've played average opposition.
They're just the sort of caaants that will get to the final after that showing.

Yeah I know. It's their arrogance.
Italy won just twice (vs Luxembourg and Bulgaria) in 12 matches in the year and a half prior to the 1982 World Cup.

Wouldn't want to be getting a shave when the ref gives an injury time penalty against the barbers team though.

Legend has it Bela Guttman -the guy who signed Eusebio for Benfica - only found out about him thanks to a chance meeting in a Brazilian barber's shop with a guy who'd seen him play in a tour of Mozambique.
