Does he play his role better than Arteta or Flamini would? Even if he's not stellar I think the answer is yes.
Agree. Super DM, would be ace in our midfield
I rate Luis Gustavo, he's a very good engine and players the holding role better than our current crop.... I was dissapointed he chose Wolfsburg over us last season if those rumurs are true. Would defo be worth a bid, but after just one game his stock wuold have gone up again. The world cup really is a shopping window and prices increase every game. Wenger should have had at least one signing sewn up by now.

He's definitely not a mediocre player.
This is a guy that plays in a midfield alongside Ramires and Paulinho, and still manages to do a solid job. Not to mention, he has 3 defenders that don't like to defend behind him.
He played 36 games for Bayern in their treble winning season, including 10 in the CL. Certainly could do a job at Arsenal or United.
He looks like a pirate which doesn't really fit in with our dazzling squads looks
Ok maybe not mediocre, good at the best but give me morgan any day over gustavo
We have got some players you can have.
We will pay you to take them as well.
Gustavo is on big money at Wolfsburg. The deal that took him from Bayern to Wolfsburg was pre-agreed and as an inter-club-arrangement. It related to sponsorship between Mercedes and both clubs (*hence why Wolfsburg pay him top dollar).
I agree, he's decent, a genuine midfield anchor who does the simple things very well. Arsenal NEED a player to do exactly that. Not that I'm saying Gustavo is 'that player', but someone like him would be a good and astute signing in my opinion.
But there was a lot of dust kicked up as to 'why' Wenger didn't sign him when Bayern allegedly 'transfer listed' him.
As I've said, there was only one place he was going, Wolfsburg.
"....the guy allows a multi-faceted, box-to-box player like Paulinho play his own game-....."
Great player, was gutted when we cheaped out on him last summer
His 'tache has no place at our great club.
He looked very good last night, great positional sense and was aware of any danger.
Flamini is also good at this.
His ridiculous mustache alone would cost £40M

We're not falling for that one again after the Silvestre fiasco
