At Southampton Poch played a 4231 with the two full backs getting up and down and their two holding midfielders Wanayama and Sheiderlein would come out to cover when the full backs were caught upfield.

I can see the same at Spurs with Sandro and Dembele doing this role and with Walker and new LB having the licence the bomb forward.

With the three supporting either Adebayor / Soldado / Kane we wont have natural wingers in the side. For instance, Lamela and Chadli/ Remy who do like to cut in, so attacking Full backs /Wing backs are critical to supply overlaps and width.

I agree that young Fryers looks a talent , but it wouldnt suprise me if he ends up being a cb in the future as he has all of the attributes to play there.

Me too. As long as we get a left back I'll be happy.
The less changes we make the better.

We have a LB returning from Brasil 2014 who is likely to head-butt Vert at the first sign of one of his defensive balls-ups. That should sort out the left side of the back four.

Announcement on the OS Les Ferdinand and Chris Ramsey have left the club.

Not bothered about Ferdinand, never understood what he bought to the club but Chris Ramsey is a big loss. Very good coach by all accounts.

Still, Pochettinno and his staff did very well at Southampton.

"Still, Pochettinno and his staff did very well at Southampton"

Doubt they are the reason for the Saints academy progess.
Cannot see any real reason for getting rid of Ramsey, as academy business should be separate from the seniors.

Totally agree. Academy should be coaches that know the area, the club and the families. Academies are more like schools. Need to teach kids to be all round people as well as footballers. I can't see how it helps to keep changing the academy staff.

With Inglethorpe and Ramsey now gone, we will soon see how the kids progress in the next two seasons.

Chris was a first team coach, he moved up from the dev squad. John McDermott has headed the Academy for several years now. If you look at the Academy side of the biz, there is stability and loads of 'local' coaches and the academy staff are a fairly settled bunch. It was always likely that Chris would move on as it wouldn't be right to ask him to move backwards or replace someone promoted to replace him in the academy set up once he took the offer of first team coaching.

If he's available on a free in 2015 then I'd say keep him for this year and let him go for free in 2015.

In that time, Chiriches will presumably be slightly more polished, Velkjovic may come through and have some first team experience also.

Don't get me wrong, if a really good opportunity came along to sign a quality CB, then I'd hope the club took it, but selling him now would probably only get £2-3m anyway.

Not worth another contract, but one more year isn't beyond him IMO

No worries Loavirgo. I know some knock our academy profile but it is actually pretty strong, one of the best in the country. Together with the new facilities there can be no excuse for not seeing some real improvements within the next few seasons.

Adam, all makes sense.

If Spurs are to be a a serious challenger to the boys at the top, then they need to cut out all the sentimentality crap, and move on some of the senior players, who are just not cutting the mustard these days. That is what made Ferguson such a great manager, he outed players when he needed to, no matter how loyal they had been to the club.

Sentiment doesn't have a place I agree. I don't think Levy does sentiment either and by all accounts Poch will do what he thinks is best for the club which ultimately means him which is a happy coincidence.
