It's not Roy, though he doesn't help things. We are just so so poor. Our players lump it out of defense when put under any pressure at all. Even teams like USA, Japan, Switzerland etc have far more composure on the ball. We play endless passess straight to opposition players. We have absolutely no guile, flair or ceaft whatsoever. We cant create proper chances against anything but the worst teams. We tend to score from lucky breaks and bobbles.

When Gerrard is your captain and he's the one making fatal mistakes, then you're fecked.
Wilshere not starting any game is a joke. Same with Barkley.

Or perhaps, Hodgson should pick players who deserve to be playing rather than overrated lazy fackers like Wilshere and Barkley.

On paper that's a good team. Will never be played unless a young manager comes in.

Carrick should be nowhere near the squad based on his last season. You EARN your way into the team. That's what most rational managers do. You don't stick a player in the team cos he was good 3 years ago even if he's now sheite. May as well have invited Huddlestone.
