England are out because contrary to FIFAs rankings, they are nowhere near the top 10 teams in world football
---------------------------------
Little bit of an overreaction. We lost to the 9th and 6th placed teams according to those rankings.

Plus we deserved to win against Uruguay, possibly deserved a draw in the first game too. We aren't good enough to challenge past the quarters (at best!) but we certainly aren't as bad as you make out

just get in a manager who will play to the players strength

Is it?

Alls I stated was that we were nowhere near the rankings that FIFA suggest.

If be interested to hear the "few" teams you think are better than England.

Damn when I read the thread title I thought this article was going to be about your last 24 hours on here

What a dissapointment

It's been pathetic on here since Saturday. Making scapegoats of individual players when it's clear that the manager is to blame- wrong personnel for the formation. If Hodgson insisted on playing 4231 Welbeck should never have played as one of the wide players. It should have been a proper midfielder who understands the defensive nature of the position.

With the players at our disposal we should have actually played a 433 or a 442 diamond. We needed 3 central midfielders because we were overrun in midfield by Italy and Uruguay.

Roy didn't make the right changes tactically and with substitutions. It was clear what the problems in both games were, and yet he did nothing about it.

Why did you put few is quotations when I didn't even use that word?

An overreaction is saying we are "nowhere near the top 10 teams". 10-15th would be accurate

The players have to take responsibility for their poor performances/results in tournaments !

Who cares, it's only England.

Scapegoating of players who turn out for a rival club has always been there whenever England play and much worse if they dont win. This time however its at an all time high.

Yes but the manager is ultimately responsible. That's why managers get sacked and not players. Players will always be told how to play. If the instructions they're being given are wrong then it's the managers fault.

England fans - bunch of bad chàvs in Lonsdale trackies with cràp tattoos singing god save the queen and no surrender to the IRÀ.
What a load of penîses.

There are many, many factors to blame, you can take your pick, lifestyle and economy contributing to a lazier generation, footballing ideology etc.. But chiefly for me it's grassroots level coaching. It's just not there.

The other one is bskyb creating the PL in its current image. Far far too much tv money around. A victim of its own success. Why invest years and money in young native talent when you can buy a ready made import. Quick fix rationality. There's too much at stake in the EPL-and this is down to bskyb and their product.

Can't have it both ways.

Changing your manager isn't going to solve anything; England do not have a player of Luis' quality to kill a game. It's no good blaming Roy, I doubt if any other manager could have done much better with the squad he had at his disposal.

Be a whole lot better for England once Gerrard's gone.

Say my name.
That might be true. Once the old guard like Lampard and Gerrard are gone England will have an opportunity to build something new.

Yeah bit it'll never happen with a manager who's tactically clueless. I see now as a good opportunity to clear the decks and start a fresh. Get a manager in that is more au fais with modern tactics, and let him mould the new young team into a unit with an identity and purpose. Not a team of dis-jointed club players trying to play in the style of superior opposition. Now is the perfect time. But I can't see it happening. The FA have backed Woy. Even if they do get someone else in it'll be another old boy who plays the game behind the scenes, as well as on the pitch.

Spot on Coutinho. England definitely need a refreshing change from top to bottom. A hungry manager with modern ideas and approach to management, made of iron so the media doesn't choose the team for him would be a good start.
