Ally is the one pushing for his appointment.
He would be of great assistance as Ally continues to take us through the leagues.
In saying that I don't see how we can afford Nerlinger.
Agree Ally must stay
I think a few clubs use the same system if manager and a dof/football operations officer.
Don't see it happening tho
tend to agree IE
Doubt this will happen
Nor is really needed Ally is handling things well at the moment
That said we are still down a man in regards to the top league management so from that perspective it would be good.
I'd love it to happen but the story seems to have come from nowhere with no real substance it quotes.
Aka a typical bbc story
Could just be mischief making
As it is the DOF's jpb to oversee all footballing matters I honestly cannot see how he would retain McCoist's services unless he was instructed otherwise which would then diminish the positive role he would have been hoped to be achieved by his appointment in the first place.
Is that not the same at all clubs with a DOF?
DOF role is not what is being discussed.
Though Im pretty sure this role would be similar
The fact you cant see why he would retain Allys services is irrelevant.
I doubt it would be his choice more likely Ally would retain charge of the first team ops with the new guy managing scouting and support teams ie U20 ETC.
Ally will have the final say in who we bring in if anyone for this or similar roles.
Exactly IE , have I missed something and McCoist is now thought ot be a good manager again
IF he is still seen as the majority of Rangers fans have been saying then surely he is deemed a liability to the football side of things at the club. If so and Nerlinger is the man who can restructure the playing side of things then retaining McCoist would seem counter productive. Offcourse there is other areas of the club where parting ways with McCoist wouldcause some problems from a purely footballing view I cant see how retaining him gives anything to the club.
To adress some of the comments above I have no problem with a club having a DOF
Not sure if youve missed something or not but the majority, vast majority at that, are fully behind Ally and the job he has done to get us to this stage of the journey back.
This DOF role is not quite that and would report into Ally as it should.
Since Walter left we have been a man down in our football management team as required for the top division.
This role would help Ally move us forward.
The club will not consider moving Ally on while he is doing so well.
Really Duke then I must of simply missed every other poster bar Hillbilly then
I would not use this or any forum to judge.
Go to the games go to the pubs talk with work mates.
The internet is full of bams and is in no way representative.
Fair enough , dont drink in pubs or work back home these days so its basically forums such as this but not soley you gage. As for the bears I do speak with personelly here not a one is in favour of McCoist staying put.
Regards here reckon its a fairly balenced spectrum of opinions regards most matters for either of our clubs
as said the vast majority are right behind Ally
And you don't strike me as the type who would even know a Rangers fan so Ill stick with the opinions of Glasgow/Scotland fans. ie the guys who go to games and follow the team.
In saying that guys I know in the HK, Perth (Aus),Baku, and Singapore SC are also right behind the manager.
Just about everyone agrees he deserves a shot back in the top division having done such a great job getting us this far.
Most of My Rangers supporting mates want McCoist gone, they feel he has wasted a great opportunity to rebuild the playing side of the club, throwing vasts amount of money on players like kenny miller etc instead of building for the future, but hey i agree with you Duke Sally is doing a great job.

making stuff up does not carry any weight in a debate
Tsk Tsk
No need for that Duke, actually get on with just about anybody mate and had we met during your we sojourn over here would likely have done so also.
If the majority here are happy then it seems to be a marked change in opinion to that expressed here when the season was still running.
What exactly have i made up?
Do you really think McCoist is doing a good job ??
Signing 35 year old Kenny miller really feels like a step forward for your club does it?? deary me
As long as you guys are happy with that then i really dont see us having to worry about your mob any time soon.
tsk tsk however true
I ve attended a number of functions since the season end and while it has been heated at times re the board its been pretty much 100% behind Ally.
In fact in an hour or so Ill be headed to meet with around 20 fans and I expect some rammy or other regards who has and who has not bought season books.
But all will want Ally in place.

a big step forward is winning the league this year.
Kenny will play his part.
The fans did not want Kenny the last time but that worked out well and I think this will as well.
Fans will always agree or disagree on signings mind you.
Actually not but thats neither here nor there mate
Is he being backed because he is Super Ally or because you actually you and the other guys you speak of actually rate his management skills ?
