People said similar about jones.

Stay away from these overrated English youngsters atm.

Nothing like Jones, from what I see he reads the game well and stays on his feet. He isn't rash and he is so comfortable on the ball.

Stones is the white Maldini

I don't think Stones would join a club that can't offer him European football

He's very similar to Varane who we sadly missed out on because of Crazy Jones. Our Tom Thorpe is of a similar mould with too many injuries and lack of game time.

How can he be yours when he play for Everton?

Are you assuming he will just leave Everton to sit on your bench for a few years? Everton were better than United last season too.

How did buying Baines go?

You didn't dodge a bullet. You bought Fellaini.

I take it your judging Baines on two England games?
You missed out on a left back much better than Evra and your Other One I can't even remember his name.

You have had years to mould Evans, Smalling and Jones. Judging by your need for Stones I assume you have failed as a club to develop these.

Ok there were two bullets, we dodged on them.

He isn't all that for Everton.

On the biggest stage he's been woeful.

could be a decent signing but just let him stay where he is. Hes in a great situation right now where he is comfy with the set up, is surrounded with the familiar day in day out, has amanager who rates him and will play allot of football under in the coming seasons.

It could work out of course as he has the potential to be a top player but he could also make the move to united, find it hard to settle being under the spotlight that all united players are, he wouldnt be the first young english lad to make a big money move only for it to be a detriment to his career, look at rodwell as an example using the everton link but the list could be endless.

You could argue that this sort of move is one of the reasons why englnd dont have a very strong squad, many prodigious talents get snapped up by clubs with money and then stall their progress sitting on a bench, the current u21 format seems to be a bit of a waste and dosnt seem to have the same competitive level the reserve leagues had, maybe someone with more knoweldge on this could comment better.

But if youve a good few young english players who do well young, make a move to a bigger club (not calling everton small or anything) but then stop playing first team football and they just wallow away playing a poor standard it must be detremental to the national side.

Like who knows had rodwell stayed and played often at everton could he have continued to develop the huge potential shown at everton and maybe been a starter for england at the world cup?

Maybe jsut leave them at their current clubs so they continue on the development path thats got them to where they are, of course youve the over pricing on english talent problem so should stones go on next season and be a revelation he would quadruple in price but if you get him now hed cost allot less.

Its a double edged sword really, the clubs with money want the best players and english talent is at a premium but these moves could hamper the crucial development years if it doesnt work out which unfortunatley happens all too often.

Maybe shaw is better off at 19 staying at saints where he is clearly excellling, and its not a pop at united, all the clubs with money are guilty of it, maybe had we not bought shelvey for example and hes played week in for charlton at that point in his career he could have become a far better player then he is today, jeffers looked a top striker at everton, moved to arsenal and faltered, sometimes maybe these kids are just too young to make the move and it hampers them

Wasn't Maldini the white Maldini?

Smalling is Rio's replacement. At the club already. Stones looks good but do not see why he would leave Everton for Utd.

Was never convinced about Baines, same with shaw. Warned so many on here about Fellaini. The player at everton I would like to see at Utd is barkley but. We have 1 million players in his position.

I understand you rate Smalling highly but when it comes to composure and passing he needs to improve.

Everyfootballer can improve his passing and composure, comes from playing regularly in your preferred position.

Do you think Stones is ready for Utd?

posted on 22/6/14

Ffs just play jones and smalling at CB like they have been for the under 21's' and never ever play smaling as right back, its like the gary neville situation in reverse

Let me get this straight.... You spend the entirety of the season bad mouthing any of our players that are not considered world class, yet you youtube one match of this kid, and he is the answer to our defensive problems for a decade?

Yep, much in the same way people only saw Giggs or Rooney very briefly at 14 and knew they'd be quality.

Also can you tell me which players I was knocking all season?

As the article says, if he keeps improving after this season I believe he'd be ready.

... oh man,

Good old Youtube.

You do realise that Jones was a fúcking BEAST for Blackburn? Same for Smalling and Fulham.

You are just desperate to have a new player. Desperate.

You sir show your lack of knowledge and dont look any further than his last game. You should look at the games he played for Barnsely and his England U19 playing position
