You seem to be saying two different things in your OP, one, that he is garbaggggggge, so definite, and then, two that he has shown glimpses but you are not sure what he is.
So do you think he is garbage or has promise. And as two people have already said on here that respected coaches, ie Scolari, keeps picking him, so perhaps he is not so bad, but perhaps not quite a Neymar, who grabs all the headlines.
One thing I do know, though, is that if one or two people start to slate a player, then that can become quite fashionable and it will build a head of steam without any real analysis or rationale behind it.
Perhaps we ought to reserve judgement until he has a season under the new manager's leadership, and then cast a critical eye over him, not just keep repeating what others say.

garbage in the world cup for brazil
shown glimpses for us last season in the prem.
maybe I didn't make myself clear enough,.
there is no contradiction whatsoever
If you can't see how poor Paulinho is you have no idea about football
His form in the WC is my fault - i put him in my Dreamteam

Me too
I can see paulinho has got good movement off the ball and positionally off the ball does quite well.
I cannot work out if he is lazy or if he just lacks confidence. I think and hope it is the latter but you would hope for a change in form when big Phil is putting faith in him ahead of fernandinho that should give him confidence.
Regardless paulinho was vastly overpriced and is not one of levys finest deals. I would not even have paulinho on the bench with his current form.
H,
I thought, £3.5m, starter for Brazil = bargain.
I think he has 2pts which is purely down to Brazil keeping a clean sheet against Mexico
I picked Paulinho too
Seems like a decent athlete but no brain.
My DT is shocking
Zero points for my 3 strikers - Ronaldo aguero dzeko

I'll pass that on to Big Phil Scolari, I am sure he will value your input!!
Everyone knows how good Spurs fan are on judging talent. From what I can remember of the Confederations Cup last year he looked pretty useful to me and I couldn't wait for him to sign. Hope we don't get the blame for ruining him in the one year we have had him
Big PHIL hasn't got a clue, I'd not even pick him for my Sunday team
I think I would sooner take notice of the last four managers he has played under, all of whom make him a first pick, than a lot pf you posters on the board.
I remember when it was announced we would buy Paulinho last year . I was keen to watch what the fuss was about and watched the confeds cup with keen interest. Impress me man!! I bellowed. nothing..Just average. nothing!!
Am afraid ..nothings changed..But hey am no scout just a long suffering Spurs supporter.

I don`t pick Paulinho, Big Phil Scoalri does, and he has won the world cup, so I think I will take his judgement over yours thank you very much.

Because they pick the team, I don`t, you don`t. Big Phil has won the world cup, I think his opinion of a player carries a bit more weight than either yours or mine, I just happen to agree with him though, you obviously don`t.
I worry for some fans. And what they see in a player

You're absolutely spot on sandy
On that basis then, is Torres a top player because he gets picked by Chelsea and Spain?
Ditto Ozil for Arsenal and Germany
I dont know why people are even arguing about it.
You only gave to watch him to see hes garbage.
His game against west ham at home in the league is the second worst performance ive ever seen in a spurs shirt.

Torres very rarely gets picked as a first choice at either Chelsea or for Spain in any games that are meaningful. Paulinho is always one of the first players on the Brazilian team sheet.
You would think managers never loose their jobs based on their poor decisions.
Off course managers are always right

are you still on this thread?
If so, I'm genuinely interested in hearing your thoughts on Pochettino and our upcoming season?
==================
I'm pretty sure you asked me this before - and i answered it. Anyhow, to keep it short, from the names shortlisted / linked to the job he is the one i would have chosen.
He has a proven record of improving a team/club in the league we play in, and has a proven track record for the style of play i crave.
As such, i have a reasonable amount of faith in him.
