Doubt he could play DM. Unless he does a 'fernandinho'. In which case it would be more sensible to pay less for a specialist like Gustavo or Schneiderlin

Wenger has not come out and said its not true we are interested, reports say he is bigging up Vidal instead.......

FFS!

Another player who we have no chance of getting (and neither would Wenger bother putting in a bid)

Yes lets leave a successful club for one who never wins anything and has no ambition!

can't see it happening

I agree mate. I think overthe years we've become conditioned to be eternal pessimists with Arsenal signings.

However (for example) if you'd have asked me would Arsenal make a bid and actually sign Ozil last summer, I'd have said 'Hell no' quite emphatically!

I don't believe for a minute that the club has any aspiration to go on Man City/Chelsea/PSG style shopping sprees. But (call me a fool if you want) I do believe that IF a player is available and Wenger's convinced they're exactly what he's after, then it's not beyond the realms of possibility that the club could stick their hand in their deep pockets, much like they did with Ozil on deadline day last summer.

We spent £30m on a left back.

So how much money are you prepared to offer Juve?

He'd be a quality signing for any prem side. Vidal and Ramsey would be quite some midfield.

I think there would potentially be a few clubs ahead of us and you in the pecking order if Juve were open to sell.

Don't rule out City selling Toure and getting Vidal as a replacement. I'm sure the oil clubs and the Spanish giants would be interested as well.

Dont see him as a CDM tbh. If thats the case then why didnt we sign Cesc? Wont work imo.

posted on 27/6/14

He's far superior to Cesc defensively so while he isn't a holding midfielder I'd imagine he'd have no problem playing there (although I think he'd probably be wasted there).

Vidal started out as a dm. He's just done a Toure and got brilliant going forward. Unlike Toure, however, he's actually disciplined defensively.

Wenger probably won't go for him, he said he commits too many fouls. But he's proper quality. However Wenger rejected Fabregas who can also operate as a box to box, so really don't see this one coming off. Though him and Ramsey, would be incredible in the same team...one goes forward the other stays back vice versa.

Imho would be a great signing for us showing great ambition....
But unfortunately we don't have the nous or desire to do it.

For that sort of price I would much prefer Pogba who can defend and attack.

Which one of those can't Vidal do?

Maybe I wasn't clear enough.

For £44m or even £30m I would expect the player to defend and attack to the highest level, preferably at an age where they could still improve.

Vidal does both better than Pogba. Pogba would be better value for money based off of age and potential, though.

Pogba is miles better than workhorse Vidal

I honestly can't think of many midfielders as adept in attack and defence as Vidal to be honest.

Henry said unequivocally that Pogba is the closest he has seen to a young Vieira. And in my opinion there has been no one more adept and balanced in attack/defence over the last 2 decades. Veron came close but was unable to adjust to the premier league. There have been better attackers and better defenders in midfield, but in my opinion no one balanced in both attributes.

I completely believe in Henry's opinion, in that he played with Vieira and has seen Pogba close up. Others have imitated but eventually flattered to deceive.

And although Vidal has been talked abt in the same way that Veron used to be, I think physically he will suffer in a more physical league and that is why I believe Pogba is better.
