KDB has the makings of being a superb player, I would have liked to see him stay, but there were plenty of rumours going around about his attitude and clearly something was amiss during his time at Chelsea.

Maybe he missed Germany and the Bundesliga because to go from Chelsea to Wolfsberg is hardly a step up in clubs.

look guys, I think RA expect nothing more then EPL title this season, if JM fail to deliver then he is off for sure. Chelsea had a great chance to lift trophy last season and it failed due to JM mistakes. simple as that.

He wasn't given the chances, and IMO was mishandled, just as Kalas, Sturridge and Bertrand were. I keep saying this, that we have a problem in that we can't integrate youth into a squad even after they have an excellent loan. KDB got 10 goals and 10 assists for Bremen 12/13, carried Belgium in the qualifiers and has arguably been their best player at the WC so far (he hasn't been excellent but a goal 2 assists and a goal in 3 appearances is still impressive).

He comes back from an excellent loan, excels in pre-season and is MOTM against Hull. After one bad game against United, was it? He was dropped t training with the reserves for a week and his next appearance was a month later in the Carling Cup. What type of treatment is that? He is certainly not any less talented than Salah/Schurrle (probably more talented/refined than Salah).

And I also keep saying this, another reason for this (like Kalas, Sturridge, Bertrand etc.) is that his price is not in double figures. They were all bought at a low price, and I do believe the club just sees them as an economic asset that can then be sold on at profit rather than a possible future player. Imagine if KDB was bought from Bremen after that season for £20m instead of us buying him in Jan 2012 for £7m. He just would not have been making 1 appearance per month like he did under us last season. Same with Sturridge if he cost what Torres did (or even cost what we sold hi for), or Kalas if he cost what Zouma has.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Exactly this. Couldn't have said it better myself.

Kalas at the moment would do a much better job for our team than Zouma but because we bought him for cheap we take him for granted. It's so frustrating seeing it happen time and time again.

It is not a problem unique to Chelsea, look at United, look at City, in general, bar the odd isolated case, neither of those clubs are able to integrate youth into their teams as the financial pressures demand success...

Arsenal do do it, but with a return of an FA CUP in 9 years.

Liverpool have been doing it recently, but as yet to see the results.

This is a problem for football in England, not just Chelsea.

And you are basing that on what?
All Zouma's games under Jose???????

I thought both were going out on loan anyhow

No young player can be said to have broken into Chelsea's first team despite having very highly rated young players so I dont think its a case of bad attitude from KDB. He just decided to do what was best for his career IMO.

Nobody really knows what happened with KDB behind the scenes.

Sadly I never got the feeling he really wanted to play for Chelsea and he seems much happier in Germany.

If he is happier at a club like Wolfsburg instead of at Chelsea then he's not really the player we're looking for.

Some players are happier being a big fish in a smaller pond and those are defintely not the types who will succeed at Chelsea.

Certainly not while we're a side who competes for titles and trophies.

I do find amusing that whenever a former Chelsea player has a good game or scores a good goal we inevitably get a why did we sell him article.

Hazard and Oscar did, KDB didn't!

Happens every time Superb, very opportunistic methinks.

Hazard and Oscar. Not sure if you are trying to be ironic. Those two were among the best in the world when you signed them already as opposed to a highly rated and promising prospect in KDB. Have those two ever trained with your under 21s?

posted on 2/7/14

Not being ironic at all, we bough KDB,Oscar and Hazard all silmilar aged players........KDB came to us last season vaing been voted player of the season at Bremen.

Why is there a difference, they are the same age, they all came to us as established players in their respective national teams, two made it, one didn't.

I swear KDB is sucking half our fanbase off, last season he was overhyped beyond any extremes people didn't even want Schurrle because of him. It seems some people can't accept that he is talented but nowhere near as good as people claimed.

You do realise Schurrle is the same age as him, don't you?

Again KDB was made to train with the youth, was he not? Furthermore you have since signed players rather than use him. As I said he made the best move for his career to develop.

OP "We all know JM was wrong to let Mata go."

Do we?

As for KDB if his heart is not at the club (any club) then you should move to where you want to be. after yesterday's article about English players moving for wages rather than progression, then I admire the ginger for doing what was right for his career, not his bank balance.

Also isnt there history between KDB and Courtois and some bird?

What is the relevance of him training with the U21s?

That just proves the point that something was not right, it may not have been his fault, I have no way of knowing what went down and neither do you.

Exactly.

If we had sold Schurrle and kept KDB instead you can bet your house that this article would have been about why we let go of Schurrle etc.

Some people just like to find any excuse to criticise and have a pop.

Was overtaken by the KDB hype mid last season, watched him for a prolonged period and saw that he was nothing special. Schrulle impressed me more. When both came to Chelsea at the start of this season I said Schrulle will outperform KDB easily, it has happened and KDB will go back to a mid-table club where he likes it best.

And the biggest bottle job this season was Liverpools slip for the title.
