As far as I can tell we haven't even tried to replace Suarez yet

all these buys so far were to bolster squad depth and would have happened even if Suarez stayed

That is a valid point. So far:

Lambert - More of sub/plan B and may also start games. A squad player
Can - 20 year old, a squad filler
Lallana - Only player probably ready to break first team
Origi - 19 year kid who will be loaned back
Markovic - seem's an exciting talent but talent is what he is unlike Sanchez who was the finished article.

At this moment the loss of Suarez has not been addressed so hopefully a more established attacking player but I doubt we will and will get a LB and CB instead.

Yeah, we need to sort the defence out big time!

Buy some facking defenders, most importantly a couple of full backs

Buy more attacking players

Enrique is back and that's the left flank locked down defensively (even if he likes running in circles to get forward)

ATTACK!!!!

Reminds me a lot of Welbeck.

"Reminds me a lot of Welbeck."

I can see that, except a bit faster

Yes perhaps a bit. Welbeck is deceptively quick but I think you're right!

He doesn't remind me of Welbeck.

More like Anelka to me.

As for our signings so far, its easy to dismiss players. This time last year Sterling wasn't a key player, now most would very much see him as a key player.

Just because Can is only 20 doesn't mean he can't have a big influence (it doesn't mean he will have either, but you can't just dismiss it because of age).

Lambert has been in the top 10 strikers in the Prem the last two seasons but is now being dismissed as just a back up. I think he will play a lot of football and has already shown he is capable of scoring and creating goals at Prem level.

Sure he isn't Suarez, but he doesn't have to be.

If he can score 12 and create another 8 then thats about half of Suarez goals/assists total. He might not do that, but its a reasonable expectation based on his Southampton record. 32 isn't old for a striker who never had any pace to begin with.

We scored 101 goals last season. We don't have to get near that in truth to be challenging in the top 4. We could score 30 less and still have a good season if we have better balance.

We can win games 2-0 or 3-1 instead of 5-1 and 6-3.

Just because we haven't yet signed defenders doesn't mean we can't improve defensively.

Arsenal conceded 49 in 2011-12. They had basically the same defence then as they have had the last two seasons. Just by playing together and training and players improving they have improved to 38 in 12/13 and 41 last season.

There is no reason why with no signings we can't improve our defence to around a goal a game conceded.

I love the way people complain about us overpaying for english players saying we should get players in from abroad, when that happens people assume they are rubbish because thay are cheaper.

This guy was keeping Miralles, Lukaku etc out of the Belgium team, plently of potential.
