There are some interesting questions to be answered on this. Would Liverpool have been so keen to sell if they felt the ban would have been reduced? Did we have to sell? And why were were giving Suarez an automatic out in a new contract?

====

Liverpool/Suarez put a release fee into his last deal to secure his signature. I would guess if the fee was met then the terms would mean he has to be sold. Upfront or in instalments, who knows?

But if the ban is reduce then I would be shocked and would understand Liverpool fans frustrations.

Win win for Suarez? I thought we wanted that rat punished and banned for life. Why are we now letting him win twice?

====

Just because it is a win-win situation doesn't mean I don't want him to fully serve a ban he deserved for his shameful act of biting for a third time.

He has got the move he has been looking for and the possibility of his ban being reduced, what's not good in this for Suarez?

A lot of if's and but's there from Liverpool fans.

It wouldn't surprise me Liverpool new he'd be leaving when he signed his new contract.

This is going to be legendary. Its almost guaranteed that the ban will be reduced, I wonder what all the paragon of virtue on here who kept calling us deluded, always the victims, blah blah blah will say? Its OK that the ban is reduced so long as it wont be for Liverpool? If that ban is reduced I expect a meltdown on here from all the people who came on here preaching to us 'Liverpool fans'. Saying FIFA is corrupt would get you labelled a defender of racism, always the victim... You couldn't make it up. Where's all the outrage? This forum is a little pathetic at times.

The most amusing thing I find is where are all the fans attacking Barcelona? Apparently it's disgusting for Liverpool to be backing a player who we have clear intentions to sell but I don't think I have seen a single article criticising Barcelona for spending around £80m on a player who has bitten three different players. Perhaps because there aren't any fans to mock on these boards?

Barcelona were going to try to sign Suarez anyway I think. The rumours had been gaining momentum. What we have seen from Barca is the usual stuff we see from them everytime they sign a big player. The Barca players waxing lyrical, flattery from their officials, happens everytime. Its not sinister IMO. I think they just saw that they had an even greater opportunity to go in and get him after the bite.

Its a big if but if the ban is reduced now that should kick off the apocalypse.

It's because they're Spanish,and we haven't got to tolerate their fans bullshît on a daily basis (I work with a red).

This is getting tiring to be honest.

Barcelona and Real Madrid are in a league of their own, with only Man Utd being near them with relation to world market share.
In "There's no such thing as Business Ethics" John C Maxwell wrote "ethics is never a business issue or a social issue or a political issue. It is a personal issue."
Personal Issues have no place in businesses. They belong with the market and each individual. The club does not have a responsibility to anyone apart from themselves in winning, and by winning, they satisfy their own fan base. Luis Suarez is an asset which generates millions on and off the pitch, by helping the club achieve just that.

"There is no such thing as bad publicity", first read (it is thought) was in The Atlanta Constitution in 1915.
Suarez generates publicity. Interest in a team in this case. Good or Bad, the media, the fans, everyone cant stop talking about Luis Suarez, and by extension Liverpool, or Barca soon. In all the focus he brings, when behaved (as he was for the largest part of the season with liverpool) he does not generate bad headlines, but he was being watched by the media, so they have to report something... and the largest part of that this season was good, for the player and for the club.
Barca, knowingly, are taking the calculated risk, that at a team where he will be at a team where all the weight will not be on him, he is at a club that 90% of the time they should be winning (he made liverpool a winning threat), will result in less bad headlines and more good ones. Also, they gain an even stronger foothold in the latin american market with Messi, Neymar and Suarez.

There is no reason to criticise Barca.
Of course Barca have power with FIFA, as do Man utd and real madrid. Get on with it. The 3 mentioned clubs are some of fifas biggest earners, as well as UEFAs. Why would they damage themselves? Also, bans are ALWAYS reduced in some way or form after appeal, apart from in england, where if you appeal, its either wiped clean or increased.

Just deal with it, be happy we made 50/60 mil profit on a player that helped us move back into champions league football, and almost won the league. Let him get on his merry way, and be Barcas problem/cashcow.

Well thats pretty spot on Stonfacd. We've pretty much been trying to say that all along. The funny thing is with all the preaching we've seen on here and all the things we've been called for 'supporting' Suarez. Some posters even thought it wasn't enough. Others said it was our fault because we kept him. If its a matter of principle that we see all the preaching then any reduction in the ban should really be irksome to most on here.
