Spurs didn't already have Sturridge, Coutinho and Sterling as a front 3.

Liverpool will be in a fight for 4th next season, but they will do a heck of a lot better then Spurs did this season after selling Bale.

yeah!

No because we have Rodgers and not AVB and Sherwood.

a lot of similarities but Rodgers is a much better coach to gel all the players together, his transfer record is mixed though... difficult to predict how Liverpool will do next season.

Plus lambert..lallana..lovren (?) are prem proven.

So many similarities it's remarkable. Wouldn't surprise me if they fought out for 4th spot next season. Too many players at once is difficult to adjust too.

We are getting our buys in early. These players will be with us throughout pre season (slightly longer rest for WC player's) and all in all be ready for first prem game.

Spurs did leave some signings late but we on other hand its still 6th July.

Still think they, like spurs are over -compensating for the loss of El biter. May backfire.

posted on 6/7/14

Don't think spurs brought a single player that had played in the prem before?

People seriously think lambert and lallana will flop? Bit bizarre; Lovren as well if he comes.

Or squad is much stronger plus our players like mig..sakho..sterling have had a season under their belt.

Lambert is a midtable player at best. Lallana is a Spurs level player at best. Unless Liverpool want to go back to midtable I don't think those two are going to help them go further.

They won't flop. They'll continue to do as well as they did at Southampton. Lallana may continue to improve, I've never been able to decide on where his talent ceiling is.

Whether they flop or not is not a comment on their quality, merely the expectations of them. We just don't have high expectations for them.

we're primarily buying depth, not a first XI

Spurs tried to buy a first XI

night and day

posted on 7/7/14

I'd disagree with that. People said that Tottenham were buying squad players (with the exception of Lamela and Paulinho).

Can potentially replacing Lucas who didn't play alot

Lambert is a sub

Lallana may start, may rotate with Coutinho/Sterling

First XI looks the same really but we still have to replace Suarez

posted on 7/7/14

Lallana is a typical overrated greedy English player who has gone for the money.

25mill is a lot of money for someone who isn't seen as a guaranteed first teamer.

posted on 7/7/14

25mil is peanuts these days

posted on 7/7/14

How much was Fabregas again?

posted on 7/7/14

25 mill is ok if you have unlimited money but not if you're Liverpool for a squad player. Lallana was definitely bought to improve starting XI, no way is he going there to be a rotational player especially for that money. Also don't see him getting much better due to the fact he is probably at his peak now.

I don't know 50p. I remember seeing him a bit in League One (they got promoted to the Championship at the same time we were after Chamberlain so I was watching some games) and I was wondering just how good he could get. Southampton fans certainly rated him.

Not a world class talent, but he could continue improving imho.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

That's not true. From the first game of the season 4/5 of the new players went straight into the first team.

Apart from Lovren and perhaps Lallana, the others won't walk into the first team. Lambert and Origi won't get in ahead of Sturridge. Can will battle it out with Allen/ Lucas and Henderson; Markovic with Coutinho and Sterling.

Markovic is a cracking talent. Pretty sure Lallana won't flop either. And Lambert is a decent squad option.

posted on 7/7/14

Fair enough. You do need the depth I guess. Though Markovic is reported as costing £25m too, which is also first team money.
