Would take Holt with Smith as his backup

posted on 17/7/14

I wouldn't take either. I don't think they are better than what we've got already.

Yes they would add experience to a young team but we have experienced players already- hunt, Morrison, Pearce, Austin etc.

We should be looking at Baldock, Agard or assambolonga, players that can bang in goals and have a future.

Good call re Morison, we don't need Holt too, simply takes up a place and a wage.

I'd go for the lad at Rochdale, Hogan or I'd have taken a punt on the Port Vale striker that was scoring for fun, Pope. Bearing in mind that the Vatican is in the centre of Rome....., Pope would be ideal for Don Massimo.

Imagine Holt and Smith up front, which one would they hoof it to?

Holt is better than any of our current strikers in my opinion, and has experience at this level and the level above but wouldnt be a long term option, so i know what your saying with the 3 lads you mentioned.

I think Smith could learn a lot from Holt though, and a 1 year deal wouldnt hurt i dont think.

O'Hara was just a name i saw online and threw him in mostly as his bird never has many clothes on

These are exactly the kind of people I don't want to see us signing. They've had their day I want some young hungry signings please !

......

Ask Tom lees which is his preferred target

Tom Lees will be playing ??????

Good job neither Warnock or McDermott aren't still here, with their penchant for playing players out of position Lees might have been on the wing in the new season.

Holt has been finished for a while now

Just topping his pension

No thanks

If he's available he will go to a bigger team than us

like i said i only saw it on skybet while i was placing my golf bets and wondered what you would think.

And we were 7/1 so very unlikely compared to Norwich 7/4, but no smoke without fire i suppose.

Still think Smith could learn bits from him.

Who you going for Jud?

Holt is 33, no thanks.

i backed Stenson, Mcilroy, Rose and Garcia all E/W this morning mate.

Stenson is Even i think, Rose tee's off in 20mins and Mcilroy and Garcia are -6 & -4 but both are prone to having really poor 2nd rounds just recent

Good choices there Jud, a big name often win the open.

I'm going for Mcilroy, Scott & Mickleson all each way.

Big ask for Rose to win 2 in a row.

posted on 17/7/14

It'll be 3 in a row for Rose, he won at Congressional as well i know what you mean but he's red hot!!!

Mickleson always has a chance if he can stay on or around the fairways, hes a little eratic at times!

Mcilroy has looked amazing today, and Scott is really a big tournament player nowadays

good choices bro, good luck

Should have followed Cellino's approach, Italian all the way!

posted on 17/7/14

The 3 italians wont be top 5 before Sunday mate

Or at least i hope not hahaha

Jud - I agree that Smith could learn a lot from Holt, but I don't really see the logic of signing him for that reason.

When we signed Smith I thought of him as a poor man's Grant Holt - but Smith has the potential to improve whilst Holt doesn't.

Holt would have been a great signing 3 years ago, and I think Norwich made a mistake letting him go when they did.

yeah i know mate, just trying to see the positives of what we could get out of him if the SkyBet rumour was true

..........................
You mean prem club, prem club and bigger than us are 2 different things.we sold Ross to a much smaller club for much more than the ex Watford striker will go for, posh ask ridiculous money for their key men and most leave on frees because clubs will not pay it.he couldn't score gls last time in championship never mind prem.take him for £1 mill and no more but think posh are asking £2 mill.

Hocks day is supposed to be the wad coach, if he can't coach smith into being a better player and needs holt to do it for him then he might as well walk away now.

Grant holt used to be a fantastic player, stats have shown that in previous seasons he covered a greater distance then most, he was a hard working machine who scored goals a plenty.

However we ain't talking about the same holt who pulled Norwich from league one to the premiership with his hard work and goals.

We are talking about a player past his best who's goals are drying up and ability to put in as much movement, hard work and graft has been drained by his age.

We have sold our star man for 11 million, we need to spend that on bringing in a grant holt of 4-5 years ago, not the past it shadow of his former self that he now is
