"Id give it to RVP, He wont be the captain for more than two seasons"
You think he will just see out his contract then leave?, I reckon he will extend it for a further year then leave with LVG
LVG has already commented about the loss of experience in vidic and rio going and has said he is disappointed to be missing car ricks experience through the injury. I think this tells us carrick will be a key player this season.
I think contenders for the captaincy will be Rooney, RVP and carrick. Although I prefer jones if he can cement a place at CB.
Give it to de gea and forget the armband for 10 years.... Let the leaders lead
The captaincy is slightly overrated though IMO, on he continent they just give it to the most experienced player, which is why Casillas is Spain captain, or Buffon Italy and Juventus captain, and why Totti is Roma Captain etc etc
I wouldn't have Evans as a regular so he's not for me.

Yet LVG said that the captaincy is very important to him. And Van Buyten was very unhappy when LVG took it from him at Bayern.
I'm sure LVG would prefer a Robson, Keane, viera type leader with 50 appearances than someone like a Valencia or young with 400 appearances
I think the issue of captain can be over-egged a bit - we need leaders all over the place, although I accept some people make more of it than others.
I try not to read too much into what LVG said about Carrick. Managers say things in press conference and then act completely the opposite way - LVG was hardly going to say that it was a good thing that Carrick was injured, but until he comes back we won't really know how key he will be for LVG.
Ideally the captain is a regular starter, so probably Rooney or RVP for me. I think Jones could be a relevation under LVG - I hope he gives him a run at CB, giving him the chance to cement his place there and finally fulfill his potential (which LVG is good at identifying and harnessing) and perhaps this year is too soon, but certainly a future captain.
Kinsang - from what I've read I'm not sure LVG is the type to bull5hit. if he says he values Carricks experience then he does.
I've suggested De Gea too. No he isn't the ideal captaincy material but the sad fact is none at the club is right now either because they lack the qualities, or are doubtful to start.
De Gea has grown so much in the 3 years at the club and proven, also if things go well he could be at the club for a very long time. I don't think the captaincy is a massive issue but giving it to De Gea would mean that he has plenty of time to grow into the role which I think he would thrive off.
I don't think Rooney is a bad choice but I also don't think he would offer much. He often sulks and moans and has actually gone missing in the bigger games last season. It's no fault of Rooney's that the club really lack those vocal leaders that you would think are essential to any team.
Captaincy should be given to the player with best leadership qualities, Not the best player or the most experienced player. Wenger often get criticized for giving away the captaincy to massage top players ego, and rightly so. Players like Cantona, Keano can rally the troops when thing are not going their way, If the captain goes into hiding when going gets tough, It demoralized the team.
I dont think Rooney, RVP or DDG are genuine captaincy material. So the best thing to do is to give it to the guy who will be the captain for least amount of time. No use pinning it on someone who is not the best man for the job only to take it off of him when a better candidate comes along
LVG will make some radical changes at United and some players wont like them. RVP is someone who is familiar with LVG and his methods, Its logical to give the captaincy to the only player in the squad who is 100% guaranteed to be onboard with changes LVG will make. RVP is certain to rally player to LVGs side not against him.
If time served isn't an issue three maybe Hummels or Vidal could be given it
Give it DDG, I. Am Me's head will explode.
Truth be told we do not have a lot of leaders in that team. Rafael would. Be a good choice
