We are likely to play 3 midfielders in most games but one of them will be attacking (Coutinho/Lallana) for the most part.

That leaves two spots and we have 5 players not including any youngsters. Do we need 5? Not sure we do. Lucas is the most likely of the 5 to leave if we get a decent offer.

He was slow and cumbersome, that's how he's been since returning from injury and if Gerrard gets injured and you think Lucas would be a good replacement, then go to the nearest mirror and slap yourself as hard as possible and then do it again!

You've then got Allen, Lallana who can play in the middle. Just don't see where Lucas gets a game!

As big a fan as I am of his, the time might be right for him to move on..

Lucas is an above average player, no more than that. He's had a couple of decent seasons and has since been beset by injury. He's simply not good enough for the standards we're now aiming for.

Of course he is worth keeping, Gerrard is 34, him and Allen have been unlucky with injuries in recent times, Can is 20 and unproven in the league. Couple of injuries and all the preassure is on Hendo.

The whole point of this summer is to build the squad, we don't actually have that many who can play DM.

I can see Johnson, Agger/Skrtel moving on as we have a lot of CB now and they are 29/30 and on a lot of money, Lucas is still only 27.

^That but wouldn't surprise me to see him go either unfortunately.

I think it's time he was moved on. We are overflowing with players at the moment.

Lucas has always divided opinion amongst Liverpool fans. Some have overrated him, ridiculously imo, others have underrated him and got on his back.
early on in his career.

Do Arsenal fans still boo Ramsey, or do most still rate him as the best midfielder in England? also. have you decided to boo or worship Wenger for next season.? Most on here appear to be in worship mode, but we all know how quickly that changes.

lucas had that fantastic season before his injury - but hasnt looked the same since. The few times he has played he has lost the ball too many times. Hopefully he will get back to his best this season. Remember how he started off for liverpool scoring a rocket - dont think hes scored since!

Lucas had two seasons where statistically, he was the best DM in the league. Then he had multiple injuries and he hasn't come back as good.

The playstyle suits him less now too because we dont play with a defensive midfielder any more.
