Can see the Ox having a fantastic season. Similar to Ramsey last year can see the talent just waiting to explode
Yeah I agree I think talent-wise he's maybe top 3-5 at the club he's truly gifted
I just wonder where his best position will end up being for us. I'd like him on the left flank being able to hug the touchline or cut inside, he'd have enough variations in his game to thrive there
Good article.
I agree the team isn't finished yet but it's exciting to think about the Ozil/Ramsey/Walcott/Sanchez/Giroud link up.
I'm a little concerned about the replacement for TV5. Wenger's been hit and miss with defenders. Consider all the trash (Senderos, Silvestre, Squillachi Cygan Santos amongst others) we had to wade through just to get Kos and Per.
Cheers Rusky
I relate to your concern there too however Arsene does seem pretty adamant on only having 'quality' at the club I wonder if the quality of defenders we recruit will be of a higher standard due to our new financial muscle... Chambers seems like a good start
It's interesting what will happen in the defensive side of things. We've let Jenko go out on loan. Apparently Bellerin's wanted by both Spanish and English second division sides on loan. If he goes surely we'll sign a centre back as Chambers will then be definite RB cover?
There were reports too that Wenger was going to make Julio Pleguezuelo our fourth choice centre back.
Well todays press conference Wenger confirmed Vermaelen would have to be replaced if sold which I believe is imminent.
He spoke of TV's importance so I believe he'll look for quality in replacing him.
I'm curious to see how Bellerin can get on this year because some reports suggest we cancelled our pursuit of Manquillo (think he went to L'pool) because of Bellerin's potential. With Jenks out on loan and Chambers possibly used in a variety of positions there's a chance we could keep Hector on board.
Would like Bellerin to show his worth to be honest. Seems like a good player.
As for attack, tomorrow will see Sanchez up front I think. They'll be definite pace once Theo is back with Ox and JC in the side as well.
Im looking forward to watching Arsenal this season, i hope Ox stays fit and plays - the options you have in midfield are brilliant.
I think you have work to do defensively and pressing/game management could improve but that not the topic at hand.
If you guys could sign a Benzema or Van persie type player up front it'd be scary.
Looking forward to seeing some silky, quick, skilfull football from Arsenal. I really hoped we could have had Sanchez at Liverpool but it wasn't meant to be.
Ronaldinho - Messi - Neymar
I agree with pressing game and so on we really do need a powerful midfielder somewhere between all the technicians we have in the middle.
Yeah I'm hopeful too the past 2 seasons we've not quite been as devastating going forward as we're known to be although there are some standout goals that prove we can turn it on from time to time (Wilshere V Norwich, Ramsey V Swansea, Rosicky V Sunderland)
It's unfortunate for you guys as Sanchez would have gone some way to easing the void left from Suarez but your team can become a lot more balanced in midfield now and if Studge can maintain his form you can still be optimistic I believe
Ronaldinho - Messi - Neymar (U12335)
We need to press more. However with Mert that's difficult against pacey teams. We were unlucky last year that our pacey forwards in Ox and Walcott were injured. We've got Joel and Alexis so that shouldn't be as much as an issue.
Last year we didn't hammer any team, I think the most we scored in one game was 4. I think we've solved that now, and like you say a top striker and defensive mid and we would be frightening.
I still think Liverpool can be optimistic. Imo Sturridge will come into his own, whether that'll be enough I don't know. If you get a good group in the CL I think you'll be dark horses.
Arsenal Can conceivably play False 9, Counter attacking football, Traditional wingplay, Flood the midfield ect all to a very high level this season in my opinion. A lot depends on Walcott and Ozil's levels if you ask me. But attacking wise there are some ridiculously good options.
It seems Arsenal players are always injured though? What going on there?
You take that back about Pascal Cygan. World Class
I tend to agree except about Giroud. I just dont see him as good enough as first choice for a team that wants to challenge for the title. Maybe Wenger thinks JC is the answer. Time will tell.
As a Striker Giroud is a good player. Not a world class or great, but a very good option. I feel works very hard for the team and despite his limitations he still scored 20+ goals and almost as many assists last year.
In my opinion Giroud is fundamental to our good defence last year. His height and strength were key on set pieces last year. On countless occasions he was the man who cleared the ball for us.
Don't get my wrong we need another striker, but as a second option or an alternative not as a direct replacement. There are better strikers than Giroud out there but not many players who can contribute as much to the team as Giroud can.
Giroud is average even sometimes good on some days. I want a striker who doesn't bottle every 1 on 1 and actually makes runs inside the box to anticipate a cross
I do worry about injuries derailing the season again. Not so much the injuries, but the length of time they are out.
There's more to come from Giroud still. We'll see an improved version of him this year in all likelihood.
What's important is that we don't overwork him again, he was really rather good at the start of last season. People are keen to forget that.
He was good for 1/4 of the season but rubbish for the rest, what is the point in that?
There is nothin to say we will be able to keep half out squad fit for the full season. Out pf the last few seasons when has this actually been the case? We should prepare with this in mind. Absolutely no guarantee.
