Brian McClough as he's (not) known.

Now the Rangers fans have thrown a flare onto the pitch.
Somebody send them back into the fiery chasm from whence they came.

The commentator on Rangers TV also seems to think Jamie Ward is Kieron Freeman.

Full time, only caught the last 30 mins but we played pretty well and Hughes looked pretty comfortable playing in front of the back 4

How did our make-do defence cope? Competent or not really tested?

Overall good signs... great defensive shape and two first class goals, not a polished performance but still pre-season and more to come, was a bit worried in the first 30 mins, but as long as we are hard to break down we have the quality to open teams up with sheer class. Kieron Freeman's Jamie Ward haircut was very good too.

I thought we looked good and more importantly (to me anyway) we looked confident with the ball so hopefully no major hangups over he PO final.

Not really tested after the first half hour Larry but part of that was the hard work the whole team put in to make us difficult to play through.

I thought Keogh had a good physical presence today and his passing was excellent. Forsyth was untroubled but we really missed his attacking threat on the left. Naylor had a better 2nd half though and can put a decent cross in. Christie looked decent although seems to have a blindspot for the attacker behind him, not sure if that's still him getting used to playing the line or an area to work on. He also hugged the touchline too high up the pitch and made it difficult for us to switch play when in our own half. That said he showed us hints of attacking play that could come in very handy this season.

So yep stood up well to the the test would have been nice to have been tested with a pacy winger though. Hughes grew in confidence as the game went on.

Derby really only stepped on the gas 2nd half. Very comfortable 2-0 win. Christie,Hughes and Dawkins were probably stand out players today. Martin was just Martin. 20 goals for that lad again.

The DM role suited Hughes down to the ground - massive plus.

Rangers fans were superb

Why was their centre half sent off? I missed the incident as was following the ball.

Apparently... sufc wanted Bennett on loan. Derby said you can have Bennett for £x loan fee if you take freeman for free. Freeman couldn't agree terms, so whole deal off. Wanted to do it that way round so no % sell on payable to forest for freeman.

I guess sufc want to lower the Bennett loan fee with no freeman and Derby want to increase it...
