Bowlers once again bowling excellent. Still expect aussies to win this, but credit to our bowlers
Bailey trying to play the ball as late as possible - right idea, but struggling to do more than defend...hes 7 from 30
Congrats to the Aussies in a well deserved and expected victory.
Sarfraz, shahzad and the bowlers (most) can hold their heads high. Misbah, shafiq, fawad and umar Akmal bottled it. 126-0 first 25 overs. 89-10 last 25 overs. Unacceptable. Waqar has his work cut out with this useless bunch.....

Kash, the problem is most us Pak fans want new faces and slate the old guard, however, we have little coming through;
Maqsood - on and off
Fawad - fekk me, he's poor. Needs an attacking player with him
Wahab - same old bull
Tanny - pie chucker
Jamshed - inconsistent
Where are the newbies? They get a chance and do fekk all. Even umar Akmal bottles it when it comes to taking a game by the scruff of its neck
----------------------------------------------------------------------
A14 tell me which old face is performing at the moment?
Shafiq has played 50 one dayers and is useless.
Misbah plays like a 40 year old
Afridi batting is not even tailender standard
Hafeez will struggle against pace and abroad is useless.
Maqsood and Umar are inconsistent but that is due to poor players around them meaning they have to take risks because the snails refuse to do so. Both still average close to 40 and have a S/R above 85.
Aussies have to be the favourites for the WC and have players like Clarke, Watson, Marsh to come in. They must have a pace bowling unit of like 15 who would get in other sides. Bowlers like Starc, Pattinson, Harris, Siddle, Bollinger, Hilf, Cummins and many more.
Kash,
I'm not saying they are performing well, infact the opposite.but my point was about strength in depth, we just don't have one!! Fawad has been our leading batsman in the domestic scene for the last 2 years and that says it all.... Agree umar has potential, but there was no pressure on him today. No excuses.
The fact is that Pakistan have lost 5 out of their last 6 ODIs by - 5 wickets, 93 runs, 7 wickets, 77 runs, and 5 wickets.... It's simply not good enough. Don't expect wholesale changes for world cup. Just wont happen
Fawad Alam showed today why he should be batting at #3. The guy can't raise his game at all and can only bat at one pace. He can rotate strike but when the pressure is on, he can't even do that.
Shafiq is only in the team because he is rated by Waqar and it was Waqar who game him his debut. Well Waqar shouldn't ignore what's gone on after he left all those years ago. Clearly he has proved that he isn't good enough. Decent test player though.
Afridi - Am I only one that thinks he offers very little? I feel he is a burden on the team esp when he bats at no7.
The problem with our team is that we have too many test players, before we would get a score of 220 at least in 3/5 ODI's with two collapses. Now we only get a score in 1/5 odis with the rest consisting of massive collapses.
The problem is, when these 'test players' need to up the scoring rate, then they struggle hence they get out. Shafiq is a prime example of that today. I think before we were able to have test/slow players in the batting line up with a strong hitting lower order to up the score. MoYo, Younis, Malik, etc were all test players by nature but we always had Afridi, Razzaq to finish the innings off.
The biggest problem we have now is, is that our test players are sheit and can't handle pressure hence we're always sheit in ODIs and we don't have any sort of lower order batting.
We need to start off by introducing players who are ODI players by nature, who bat at a high strike rate, and who can hit a boundary at any time. Maqsood must play, don't care how inconsistent he is, he is the only player who has all of those attributes.
Sarfraz is good in sub cont but I reckon he won't even get bat on ball in Aus.
We have to remember that for the WC, we need 3 seamers, while Ajmal and Hafeez also will be playing. Then Afridi gets automatic selection so we're going to be playing a 5 man tail!
Personally I'd drop Afridi and this would be my team for WC:
Shehzad
Hafeez
Fawad
Misbah (c)
Akmal (wk)
Maqsood
Sarfraz/Afridi
Wahab
Ajmal
Junaid
Irfan
But if you really want a balanced and solid team then Hafeez at #7 with Azhar Ali opening (got a very good record as opener!).
Gul is finished TLLL. A series of knee injuries have taken its toll. He's lost pace and also his main asset which is to reverse the ball.
Shehzad
Hafeez
Fawad
Misbah (c)
Akmal (wk)
Maqsood
Sarfraz/Afridi
Wahab
Ajmal
Junaid
Irfan
===============================
Agree with you Robin. The balance of the side is not right and in Aus if Ajmal is back then we will have drop Afridi as 3 seamers are needed. We have Sami Aslam in the side and I think we need to persist with him. My team:
1 Shehzad
2 Aslam
3 Hafeez
4 Maqsood
5 Akmal
6 Misbah/Fawad
7 Safaraz
8 Wahab
9 Ajmal (if not then Afridi or Babar)
10 Junaid
11 Irfan
Here we go again, Afridi bashing from the pakistani faithful when it all goes wrong . Heard it all before. How the fekk can you only blame a 7th position batsman? Do you really think him going will make all the difference and the side will be "balanced"? That's just a delusion. Afridi is only part of the problem
Consider the bigger picture such as this was the 30th time in 70 ODIs during last three years when Pakistan is bowled out under 230 when batting first (Since October 10th, 2011)... Afridis fault?
Ps- Misbah last 7 International Innings:
5, 3, 13, 36,18, 0, 15....... Is that Afridi form?
The problem with Pakistan cricket is deep rooted and isn't an overnight fix.
Ps- do we bother with a Pakistsn A side? Are they sent on tours? Who's in the team? You can't expect newbies to be thrown in and win games. We are a total shambles.
After the World Cup, we should bring in youth and look to build for 2019 world cup. Time to rid the old folks.
Robin,kash,
Both your teams for world cups are wrong. PCB already made it clear that they are looking at Shoaib Malik, so I expect the following to be included
Farhat
Malik
Goofy Akmal
Younis
Well, here we go.....
Misbah resigns. Afridi captain for tomorrow. Looks like PCB have done a u-turn on Misbah and he won't be at the World Cup. I'm not surprised.
Official word is he's 'resting'.
However, reality looks like management have had enough and have taken the decision to call it a day on his ODI career, despite previously saying he'd lead the team in World Cup.
Misbah out
Best possible news.
I don't understand why it's being taken as good news?
Robin,
Looks like it's all kicked off in the dressing room., sources are saying he's not playing due to management pressure. Looks like his ODI career is over.
I'm not sure of the logic about putting Afridi as captain though, because he's hardly in form held. But he dies raise his game when leading.
Robin under Misbah its all negative safety first cricket. The only thing that kept him in side was his negative batting at a S/R of 65. He's a reactive skipper and not proactive.
I don't think Afridi is the answer because it means that he will play all the time when in Oz we only need one spinner but who in the team can lead? Maybe we bring Khan back to lead side.
Fekk u rameez, just fekkk you mate.hypocrite
Its amazing the mentality of Aus players and English and Pakistani players when it comes to attacking cricket.
Theres no way would an Australia team bat at 4/ 4 an half an over for 25 overs. They attack from ball one.
Even if Australia get 300+ in this game.. Even if Pakistan lose.try and get quick runs and get close to the aussie score quickly
Better to lose in the 41st over with 260+ on the board than lose in the 50th over and go at 4 an over.
That's how England play odi cricket.. and not very good at it..
Afridi what happened?
Not surprised its kicked off in there. Always happens when waqar is in there.
Why didn't akmal play?
Robin,
I've no idea what's happening but the team management are taking the pi555 outta Misbah. He's on as 12th man
13th man is umar Akmal
Doesn't make any sense to drop umar Akmal whatsoever, ridiculous decision. Cannot be justified whichever angle u look at it from
Like I said, when Afridi is captain he raises his game and the wickets flow
