I'm really happy with Mig
He stops shots few other keepers would. Top, top keeper.
I miss the Reina of 4-5 years ago but he's not that player anymore
Good servant for us but ultimately the right decision to sell him. Thanks and goodbye Pepe.
He might have very good agility & pull off saves many others mightn't at times, being a very good shot stopper though doesn't equate to being a top keeper.
He makes me as nervous as calamity James used to when he comes out for a cross at times, he seems to struggle for the flight of the ball & it causes panic.
Added to his distribution which is a key element of any keepers game & his lack of authority then you don't have a top keeper in my opinion.
That's not to say he's doesn't deserve time, he's young & will hopefully clean up on these areas of his game. He's talented but I agree with those that say he'll get this season to show he's a long-term option.
I hope he takes it, the natural abilities are there but then the same things been said about many keepers before.

Not at all. as I said above I'm not campaigning for him to stay, I simply think he's better than Mignolet. He's going but we don't look like sorting the problem that mig isn't good enough, I've seen people say he's young and he'll improve. Hes 26 and can't hit a fullback with the ball, that's not going to improve that much.
I've also seen someone describe mig (on this thread) as a top, top keeper? He's not, he's a great shot stopper but that's it!

He should improve with commanding his area and communicating with his defence, in fact it seemed to improve as the season went on. This is a new player thing, you get to know the other players, their personality and how they work and then you feel comfortable in doing these things.
He doesn't really need to be kicking the ball, which I agree he is poor at, as most of the time we use the rolling the ball out to Gerrard tactic and build from there.
But do we roll the ball out because he can't pass?

When BR first came in, Reina was instructed to distribute to the defenders, instead of looking for the quick counter. Swansea also did this, with Britton often the man dropping in to receive. It's a tactical move but certainly one I would adopt even if it weren't, considering Mignolet's poor kicking.

We were spoilt with Reina's distribution. he was almost uniquely different in that regard and no other keeper even came close to him for that.
Mig has 'normal' distribution. Watch other sides and their keepers end up all making a distribution mistakes at least once a match. We're just not used to it after Pepe.
Mig was dire on high crosses his first few months but seems to have improved a lot on that.

I agree, good summary of how Pepe should be remembered for his time with us.
Despite the fact that I do believe the move was inevitable I can't help but think he has more to offer in his latter years than a place on Bayern's bench.
He may never be the force he once was but it's surprising to me that no good, if not top, club has come in looking for a number 1. Seems a shame to me.
Great keeper in his pomp and irrespective of how he's left I think most, if not all, Liverpool fans would wish him well.
Agree sterling I was annoyed at him but after reading that I thought of all he did for us, I was in the top right of the kop as you look out on the pitch when n'gog scored the second v united and watched Pepe run the length of the pitch to celebrate in that corner, great moment and a really fond memory.
I wish him all the best but feel now is a good time for him to go, hard to see him ousting neur though he's an incredible keeper.
