Backo mentioned a young Jamie Hanson, an actual centre half, was doing well in the youth teams, could he be a surprise starter?
Mascarell doesn't look that light weight. How about Conor Sammon as he wont play as a forward for us again. Don't think he'll make the bench tomorrow.
Is he out? I thought McClaren said he was going to play on one leg!
Nothing official yet Vidals, but he's looking a doubt. That said, he's daft enough to play with an injury.
Perhaps I've been a bit quick to write Mascarell off as a flakey European. By all accounts he could fill the 50 yard diagonal pass from deep void that we might be left with.
As much as the accountant in me would love to extract some value from an otherwise near worthless asset, I don't think Conor Sammon has it in him to fill in at CB. It'd be like having another off day Keogh, all arms and legs and flailing about the place!

I have a feeling Bucko will play. However this said Whitbread has seemed to be over his cracked rib and could be his opportunity.
Personally would like to see what Whitbread has got now he's been here for a while.
Fozzy has to play LB as bringing him into the CB position cost us so much effectiveness. Even more so when we do have genuine options for cover.
Nearly 24 hours to go
I thought Whitbread was fit?
Bush, he's a doubt, along with Bucko.
Cracked ribs are a bit of a strange niggle though, he might feel ok, but one knock in the wrong place and he's incapacitated. He'd be as much of a risk as Bucko.
Tis good news; you just need Keogh to be injured and you will have the makings of a good CB pairing
Talksport have just said it's Derby's to Chuck away. And if they could bet on any team going up this season....... It's the mighty Rams
No pressure then
I wouldn't trust Talksport where football is concerned. Didn't they employ Pearce? What kind of organisation would give that berk a job?
Vidal they were going on about The Spanish lads. And Best coming in. Saying we needed a bit of physical strength. And that's what we Didn't have last season.
Sounds like they've improved a lot since giving Pearce the boot then, Wassa. Mind you, there's a few of his employers that have said that in the past.
Who did they predict last season to run away with it? Oh yes the defend for 90 minutes and hope to get lucky side. I am not as confident as Talksport.
All I can say is we have the best coaching staff, the best midfield and the best forward in the division so we should stand a chance. It is really down to how the defence performs.
So we have O'Brien with a dodgy ankle, Bucko with a salsa hip, Whitbread has cracked ribs and Keogh with tourette feet.
On top of that we may play Will as our defensive midfielder.
Pricked my optimistic balloon that has.
1992 we were hot favourites for promotion. Think we hammered Notts County in a perseason friendly 8 0. Then when the seaon started we hardly managed a point over the first 10 games. Recovered and finished 8th in the end but that was having tour optimistic balloon pricked.

Opposition cant score if they haven't got the ball
I wouldn't worry about Hughes in that position
Good owd Arthur Cox back in 1992
I hate being the favourite for anything, always makes me nervous and think we're doomed to failure.
So I went for £5 e/w on us to win the division rather than the outright win.

a little bitterness towards wba influencing your second there Bush?
It's ok, I've got them going down with West Ham (who I also don't like) and Villa at 85/1
Not a bad shout that for those odds
Allardyce first manager sacked for me in prem
a little bitterness towards wba influencing your second there Bush?
Maybe a little but I've been on WBA pages a lot recently and I really don't see a lot going for them this season
Why bitter towards West Brom?
They sold you your second best player from last season (after Wisdom) that can't play again; but it's not West Brom's fault, although they did warn you.
Look on the bright side, there was less money for SMc to award himself as part of his new contract.
On that subject; why did he need to do this? One Billy Davies did this instead of concentrating on strengthening the team, then started the campaign weaker than he finished the last (rather like Derby).
