I think Arsenal will win this one, City are missing too many of their first team.

Same as us really.

I think we'll line up in a 4-1-4-1 formation. As you say the defence picks itself although Monreal could cone in at CB. I think Wenger will start with the Ox today and bring Santi on later in the game.

Tell that to Arsene. Our new flat 4-3-3 needs more lumps in midfield.

Why, he isn't the one going with it.

I'd personally go for:

-----------------------Szczesny

Debuchy---Chambers---Koscielny---Gibbs

----------------Ramsey----Flamini

Ox------------------Cazorla------------Alexis

-----------------------Sanogo

Campbell, Rosicky, Wilshere, Giroud, Arteta and Monreal to come on as subs

Going by the Emirates Cup, it worked well against Benfica before we took off the three midfielders. Against Monaco, Wilshere looked like he was under instruction to build from behind. Besides, the lads in midfield today, should be busy closing up space.

Not sure we will win this one, but would be nice if the shield stayed in Manchester for the fifth consecutive year.

When did Flamini and Arteta play together in the Emirates? (Bar the last quarter on an hour)?
How did it work well v Benfica, Flamini started and Arteta replaced him.

I thought we were talking about 4-3-3.

No, we were talking about Arteta and Flamini both starting. Hence the "Arteta and Flamini " response.

Pretty much agree with this Perhaps Giroud instead of Sanogo and switch Sanchez and Chamberlain around, but otherwise, that's exactly what I'd go with.

Oh well. We'll still need to field all the lumps today to handle the City midfield and to protect the new defence.

Our attack is one of the best in the league. Up there with City and Chelsea.

If we can sign a CB that can cover DM quite competantly we will have a good shout at the league.

posted on 10/8/14

Also if you could somehow combine Flamini's tenacity (albeit turned down a notch or two) to Arteta's general play we'd have one hell of a DM

posted on 10/8/14

Our attack is poor because we still have Giroud as our main CF, we come no way near man city or chelsea

Seems I will have to tell Wenger after all.
Arteta and Flamini start, with Caz left out.
YaYa up front, Ox and Alexis on wings.
Back 5 as expected. Ramsey also starting.

posted on 10/8/14

Clichy starts at RB for City. YaYa and Jesus both start. Jovetic and Dzeko up front.
Nastastic and Boyata at the back.

Pretty sure the last time Boyata started against us he lasted less than 5 minutes before being sent off...
