Cambiasso Watch

So there we have it folks, to re-cap;

1. Nothing actually happened

2. However - the mirror have been the first semi reliable source to confirm the move is going ahead. They first broke the story last week

3. East Midlands Today have said the deal will be completed tomorrow with an announcement from the club.

4. I'm just realising that I could have watched all 6 Police Academy films in the time this has taken

I'm going to bed, but don't worry - Cambiasso Watch has journalists working through the night in case we spot him down Narborough Road or hanging out in Leicesters red light district.

Either way....you'll be the first to know

According to another source (up to you if you believe it!) IF we manage to pull it off we owe a "big thankyou to a certain Mr Mourinho for a glowing reference of our club, the set-up we have here and our long term vision. Steve Walsh senior has a good relationship with Mourinho going back to when he was a scout for him. That link is how it's all come about I've been told"

----------------------------------------

If true, this is very positive news and just further credit to the grey work Pearson and his team have done to create a very professional set up at our club.

Afternoon all. Very quiet on Cambiasso Watch although I was alerted this morning that an Argentinian had put an offer in on a house in Beaumont Leys. More on that story later.......

In the meantime Chris Wood has this afternoon rejected an offer from Wolves while Leicester are set to make a club record offer for Troy Deeney

"Very quiet on Cambiasso Watch"

It's also gone dead on any link to QPR though, so it seems we'll just have to be patient.

"Chris Wood has this afternoon rejected an offer from Wolves while Leicester are set to make a club record offer for Troy Deeney"

Sounds a lot like speculation rather than recorded fact. It'd be interesting to know what Wood thinks of a move to Wolves, or whether he'd prefer to stay here and fight for his place in a Premiership team. It must be a difficult call for him.
I kind of hope we don't make a club record offer for Troy Deeney though, as I don't see him as being worth it.

Cambiasso watch only deals in speculation DM, as soon as anything becomes factual we get bored and move on.

Quite a lot of sources harping on about Deeney, Stringer said last night it would be a mistake to think the deal is dead.

Only one source on the Woods story though so that could be a load of tosh. By could be I mean is.

I have given 'Cambiasso watch' 5 stars BS. Perseverance

5 stars from me as well BS. You've enabled me to cease looking for any Cambiasso articles myself and go to see inbetweeners 2 (where I unfortunately didn't bump into the man himself despite looking) while merely refreshing this page. Bravo. Keep up the good work!

Thanks guys......I have to say that I can't remember there ever being such excitement from Leicester fans over a signing. Mancini was more of a surprise at the time, but this has really got Leicester fans buzzing.

The latest tweet from respected Telegraph journalist John Percy - "Cambiasso ongoing, another Deeney bid likely. Vardy close to signing new deal. Wood wants to fight for his place""

Dutch news reporting that QPR have said no to Cambiasso in favour of pursuing Jonathan De Guzman

Using google translate can have some pretty funny results.

Indonesian news report that its always been Cambiassos dream to 'graze the land of England', while Italian reporters are suggesting Nigel Pearson is furious with the 'canary' that leaked the deal to the press.

Interestingly though most of the foreign news sources are saying its done and they also say that there were several offers on the table from La Liga clubs

Thats it for tonight....and no further news from any UK sources. There are reports on Twitter that Leicester will announce the Cambiasso signing on Thursday but its just rumour.

Tomorrow will see a 4th bid lodged for Deeney however and I wouldn't be surprised to see Leicester finally get their man

Another quiet day on Cambiasso Watch. Nothing expected today - Pearson at a premier league conference apparently. Would expect a Deeney bid before Cambiasso is announced

Chris Wood to Wolves is definitely dead

Starting to think that this might not be happening now, only two reason for the radio silence on this....either the deal is dead or the player is talking to other parties and assessing other options on the table.

Either way not great and certainly talk of a medical on Monday were now clearly inaccurate.

Personally I dont think the deal is dead, but I do think negotiations have been affected by the press leak.

There were a lot of reports on Sunday that Cambiasso was set for a medical and from a number of sources and while it seems they were certainly premature - I think there was something there.

If QPR did get involved at the weekend then that could explain the delay and could have prompted Cambiassos agent to change the goal posts on current contract discussions. Anything like this means something that should happen on Monday can then either fail completely or not happen until Friday.

John Percy and other more respectable types seem clear that talks are progressing, but its obviously happening much more slowly than first though. I still expect we will get him, but it may not be in time for Saturday

One big reason for radio silence may be that Leicester City have got the situation under control now, that everything is happening internally and, while a contract has been agreed in principle, negotiations are still taking place regarding the finer detail. For instance, lawyers will go through them with a fine tooth comb these days and then minor things will need addressing. Hopefully the silence means that this is happening rather than because the deal is dying.

What's more encouraging is that there doesn't appear to be article after article claiming that QPR or any other club are about to steal him from under our noses. Indeed, after some initial interest it would appear that they've given up.

Even so, it would be great to see this happen tomorrow and a big boost for the fans going into our first match on Saturday.

Good points DM. If you were Nigel, you would now ensure that no further leaks went to the press and would maintain absolute silence on the deal until confirmed.

Rob Tanner from the Mercury said yesterday that nothing had been heard for 24 hours from the club.

posted on 13/8/14

There might be a number of reasons why we've not heard anything. You said Pearson is at a conference today. Maybe the deals done and will be unveiled with Nigel in the next day or so. I'm not worried (at this stage), for Nigel the unveiling isnt top priority, it is just annoying for us fans!

QPR now closing in on De Guzman which hopefully means any pursuit of Cambiasso is over

posted on 13/8/14

Well the first bit of negativity on this from an italian media source who have stated tonight that Cambiasso is uncertain on a move to England.

Whilst it seems Leicester have offered a contract, Cambiasso is still pondering if he will move to England according to Canale Inter.

posted on 13/8/14

That's not a good sign, particularly because it reflects precisely the biggest danger to this deal at present.

posted on 13/8/14

Signing on the pitch pre -match on Saturday would be my guess.

posted on 13/8/14

That's not really the Nigel Pearson way though, is it?

You should know.

Apparently, negotiations for Cambiasso are ongoing.

Which I suppose still means that he might come or he might not.
