6th. Signings have been horse shît

Not watched herrera preseason then?

5th or 6th would be realistic. Squad isn't strong enough and not enough has been done to address this.

Herrera is going to be great,I just worry that at this early, early stage he has alot to do.

He is basically our midfield at present.

Man utd been amazing in preseason. We can score when we want it seems. We can cut through teams regularly in aa burst period like SAF teams.

Fletcher and Fellaini scored in our last game. We have Lingard, Herrera, Powell, Carrick, Cleverley, even Jones.

Aside form the dippers, Fletch has performed well on tour tbf

Yep,Fletch has been good and its great to see.
But I do think we need another qaulity midfielder brought in.

Wing

I was just responding to you saying herrera has so much to do because he basically is our midfield

Bit harsh on Fletch

We can't rely too much on Herrera, looking good but friendlies mean little. Against physical midfields and teams that 3 in the middle we will struggle with what we currently have similar to last season.

Will be interesting to see what LVG expects of Rooney in terms of dropping deep, Rooney obviously likes doing it but with Mata behind maybe he will be asked to do so less. It's why I'm still wary of the Mata/Rooney/RVP front 3, they'll need time to adjust to each others game and know when not to get in the way of others as they are all primarily operating centrally (or at least prefer to) and in similar spaces. Rooney works best as a striker when he is made not to drop back as much but with RVP up there with him it could get congested.

No probs.

I do have concerns whether Fletch can keep, not only this form, but his health up.Even at this early stage it must be having some effect to his body considering what he is going through.
Granted us playing less games now is a benefit to how LVG uses him.

Cleverly has looked poor though and I think his time is up.

...............

And that is where we saw what has been the big problem with Fletch though out the years.

I think we won't struggle anything like as much considering we are starting with three centreback,

Surely one of thos will push forward when needed to make 3 in the middle and that will mean Rooney cant stay further forward instead of him being the one to drop back into midfield all the time

Basically we need another quality CM as well as a quality CB and it has been incredibly obvious for months now.

I just thought he had an off day VC. His passing was terrible for starters

hasn't been great but not particularly poor either, particularly in his last 2 appearances where he was tidy

Other than Jones I'm not sure the other 2 can offer much in the middle other than an extra body, all 3 aren't blessed with great technique to keep possession and I say Jones is the only one who can offer real support with his high energy levels. We clearly need another quality CM to help our problems as well as to allow Herrera to get on doing what he does best.

Rooney 'can' stay further forward that was meant to say

Im not saying we dont need another CM. We clearly do

I'm simply stating from a tactical perspective, we won;t struggle in the middle of the park as much as last season

We have added Herrera
We have effectively dumped wingers playing in front of fullbacks and now play with more players in the middle. An extra CB and Mata

Fletch has the OP to sort it for the near future. Something he should have had done 2 or 3 years ago instead of trying to manage the condition with drugs

That better be wumming Macca.

My Mrs is tidy, she is just bloody useless at football.

Macca

He isn't good enough to play in Uniteds first XI.

We need someone who is comfortable on the ball and doesn't pass sideways and backwards as a first thought.

The one asset he did have in his good season was breaking up play and getting stuck in. He doesn't really do that any more, probably due to his illness..

In my opinion, neither Clevs or Fletch are good enough to be first choice in United's central midfield. I've never said any different

I ain't gonna say they played garbage every time they play though if they haven't been and I don't think they are as poor as others do

It's the same with Young. Not good enough but he has had a couple of good performances on tour so I say so

Plenty don't think Jones is good enough. I think the opposite. He's just been facked about imho

posted on 14/8/14

I appreciate everything Fletcher has done for us and what he has been through recently must have been incredibly hard for him but that doesn't mean anything now, and I simply don't think he is good enough. No other top team would take him and if we really have plans to finish in the top 4 then we need to address our central midfield as well as defence.
