I'm fairly sure the only way Waghorn would be allowed to leave is if we have signed one or two strikers.
The problem is Waghorn hardly passes as a striker at present - I'm sure Sven is aware of our needs up front and Waghorn and Howard are not part of them. I still feel there will be a fair bit of activity on the transfer fromt, both in and out, before the 31st.
That's the only positive spin I can put on this news, maybe there's something on place!
From what I've seen so far this season, I would have no problem with Waghorn being moved on. Quite simply, he doesn't look capable of playing or learning this style of football - He knows how to bustle but that's it.
Time to focus our attentions on Schlupp.
Completely agree with Dunge.
It is obvious that Sven does not rate Waggy so it would be the best for all concerned if he moved on.
Maynard and Bristol City have still not attracted a bid from a premiership side and he has still not signed a new contract.
Waghorn is probably the only Leicerster striker that is surplus to requirements that Bristol may accept in part exchange
Is Sven jacking up the pressure?
Maybe Sven thinks that if Southampton take Waggy, they won't go in for Maynard.
Conspiracy theory I know but the reality is that Maynard is the kind of player we need and at this moment in time, Waggy isn't.
Trouble is everybody in this league could do with a Maynard, I would have thought that Southampton would only go for Waghorn if they fail to get Maynard or Maynard is too expensive
I think Southampton have the money.
But as to whether they need a Maynard, they already have Connolly and Lallana on 3 and Lambert on 2. So not quite as desparate as us !
Good, he needs to go, he isn't good enough for us and has been rubbish since he signed full time.
Sven has said he will not go unless the striker situation changes. Waghorn has said, as recently as Thursday was it??, that he wants to stay.
I could not see him leaving unless we specifically wanted to use him as a part exchange on another player.
I would like to see him at least be given the chance to play up front down the middle tomorrow night for a decent period.
Have to agree with Keep_the_faith 1
He needs games..........and games as 1 of the 2 strikers.......not in a 3, stuck out on the flank.
Our loss if we sell the player. This kid will come good if he has the desire and listening head on his shoulders to take in the words of the manager/coaching staff. Be cooler in front of goal.
Thierry Henry was the prime example.
Waghorn has the pace, has the hunger, has the strength and has the directness..........just needs to display some composure when in on goal. Nuff said.
Schlupp and Waghorn to start up front against Bury, Nugent on the bench.
If fit.....Ball left back, Johnson in midfield, Peltier right back, St Ledger centre half. Regulars on bench.
I have to agree with playthepitch, he has been very useless but he still hasn't been given the chance, he hasn't played at least 5 full games in his proper position
