The truth aboout the market???

We have never competed with the elite clubs for signings however the 3 advantages we had over most other clubs was money, an attractive brand of football and the chance to work with SAF.

We no longer have more money than most, our football has been poor over the last 2 - 3 seasons and of course we no longer have SAF.

Add to the mix the woeful appointment of moyes plus the fact we have an unbalanced squad full of average players sprinkled with a couple of top players and it's not difficult to see why we are where we are at the moment.

I think LVG and Woodward need to sit down and understand the importance of top 4 this season, agree what is need to achieve that and get it done sooner rather than later.

Don't overreact, you lot have a fantastic squad and Rooney, De gea, Fletcher, Carrick, Shaw and Herrera are all world class footballers
you don't need to add to your squad considering you have too many good players already. You will be fine this season, might even win the league like two BBC pundits predicted

Not having CL footy this year will definitely hurt you in the market.
I doubt the "attractiveness" would have gone after just one bad season but you'll have to pay over the odd to get WC players, especially when the set up precedents of paying almost £30M for unproven players (Herrera, Shaw, Fellaini, etc...)

The EPL while undoubtedly a great product, is overhyped and has far too much money. The hype extends particularly to English players, Shaw being a good example, decent player, but worth the lavish praise and transfer fee? Not a chance.

European clubs see the EPL clubs as a cash cow, hence the huge transfer fees. This gets even worse internally with English players.

When was the last time an English payer went abroad for a huge fee? Bale, but he's welsh and exceptionally talented, something most of our youngsters are not (at least near his level).

I am surprised, even without CL footy that united haven't as big a draw with the massive players. I mean against a team like Munich, maybe not (at this point in time(, but for the most part you'd expect us to be on that level.

Shaw will be worth the money but,an alarming lack of pace in the attacking third is worrying and centre halfs that can't play football don't help.
Since Rooney threw his toys out the club have struggled, really wish he'd left.Too much time spent on him last season added to all the other deficiencies.

I'm not convinced he will be worth it. But I agree on rooney, he should have been booted out as soon as he started throwing a hissy fit again. With the right money we could have bought someone else that would add more to the team, I don't think he has too much longer left at the top. But then the club do make a lot from his image...(surprisingly, as he looks like an Orc).
