cancan - Have you ever been to London? It is one of the best cities in the world. Liverpool is a top city but it has nothing on London. Fabregas has a house in London and Chelsea are title favourites. We have the money but we are only back in Europe not constantly there.

We have to be realistic

Circumstances my friend. Fab was surplus to requirements at Barca whereas Southampton would have much preferred to keep Lallana. Add in the fact that he is English.

I would say the profile of a typical good Liverpool signing is one who's on the up and really hungry for success.

I don't dispute Fabregas is a great player but he's just left the team he said he always wanted to play for and previous to that from a team he said he loved and would never ever play for Chelsea out of respect for.

Basically Fabregas is on the downgrade at huge wages and it remains to be seen if his heart is really in it.

Lallana has so much to offer on lower wages and at this stage is totally comitted to LFC. That is the player we are looking for IMO.

Jesus wept have we forgotten that Fabregas is playing against Burnley tonight, people going on as if it's Real Madrid or something.

You can tell people have been hungry for the return of the premier league football.
Pass of the season has already been handed out, and world class credentials are already being attributed.
If Fabregas, who is a very good footballer, was as good as is being touted, he wouldn't be playing against Burnley for Chelsea, but preparing to start the season with Barca.
As I said, good player, but premature ejaculations all over Sky Sports, as hyperbole runs rife.
Chelsea do look strong though, and have quality all over the pitch.
As for comparisons between Lallana and Fabregas, lets give Lallana a chance to kick a ball or two in a red shirt before we start decrying his purchase, in favour of somebody else.

Fabregas on over £100k more than Lallana per week..

His worth is then £30m+ more than Lallana over a five year deal.

Henderson to Sterling Sunday!

Lallana will be a top purchase, can play box to box, attacking midfield, or in the wide positions.

He's a utility player, and will do a job for us

So you don't know what either are paid

Coleman £60,000 transfer

Johnson £120,000 a week wage

Yeah you never know they could be on similar wages, right Fella? Desperate.

Think the OP has missed something. Of we could have got Fabregas, I'm sure we would have. We can only get players who want to play for us.

Could always look at the transfer fee for Johnson if you want.

We could say £12.5

But you were owed £7m already by Portsmouth
