You're the MUG LIW try not to panic over one game FFS

It's hardly just one game though, is it? We were also rans at Millwall, finished against Accrington hanging on for dear life, and had two huge slices of luck against Boro. No such reprieves tonight though, and no excuses either. Eddie Gray and Thom Kirwin were barely able to point to any positives other than we were slightly better 2nd half but still totally outclassed.

Very disappointed with tonight's performance. Our midfield is shocking. Bianchi seems to be going backwards - but without any movement from the players around him. what can he do? Shape was awful first half and even though better second half the movement off the ball was not good enough to penetrate. So really glad I spent the 3 hour car journey to Elland road and even better the A1 was closed on the way back.
Gutted that this was my last visit to Elland road for another 2 years - was hoping for a good send off.
Still have hope in me though that the new signings and players to be signed before the transfer window ends can turn it around (assuming we sign some players with pace)- so I'm sticking with my original thought that we will finish mid table and can hopefully challenge next season.

Cellino is doing his best to fix thinks. We need to have a little patience before making judgement.

Whiterose, I'm sure he is, but the bottom line has to be why he places so much faith in another Italian who has no experience of Championship football, and a coach whose CV/references are primarily in lower league football. Even the best managers/owners/coaches can't make a silk purse from a pig's ear.

I'm not sure why people think that these 2 reported signings are going to drastically improve our team, its not a striker that's the problem and getting a 20yr old brazillian player is rarely going to be the answer.

We need some width, creativity and pace. These cost money. The last 2 seasons, every poor, narrow performance without any threat from the team, the first thought that comes to mind is the last season under grayson with Snoddy and Gradel. Until we finally replace them, we might as well not bother.

Why not just wait maybe 10 games before we write these players off?

Cellino has fine a great job replacing the old journeymen with younger blood (in most cases).

There will be a few downs before the ups arrive I'm sure - but arrive they will once things start to gel (I hope).

That said - those who paid to watch that last night have every right to moan and groan. They pay to be entertained by our team not the opposition!

Agreed Stevie. Calling them deadwood after four games is just a wind up surely?

Stoopo,

How can you say not to write off players before 10 games and then say Cellino has done a great job in transfers after 3 games?

You want to see something from the new signings even if they play badly or the game passes them by - just a glimpse of ability and talent. I've seen that from Silvestre, Cooper, Ajose and Doukara.

But Bianchi - on a 4 year deal - worries me. Not seen anything from him.

Bianchi seemed off the pace to me last night.

He looked okay in pre-season - but now he's up against the real deal in terms of opposition each week. Perhaps it's a tougher league than he envisaged? I'll still give him more time, but have to agree, I watched him last night and he wasn't involved enough.

I really thought he looked a good player against Dundee. Great first touch, good passing and good movement.

But since competitive games have started, his technical ability isn't good and his passing really bad. A few times last night, he just knocked the ball lazy forward and it just went straight out of play.

Hope he can get better, but I just don't see it from the 3 games I've watched.

It amazes me that the hypocrites say "don't get too excited etc" get slate us when we say the opposite.

These are grown men with some semblance of logic and reason. If any were devoid of "normal level" cognitive activity, I'd not question, however to write Bianchi off after 2 games in a new league in a new country makes me believe so.

2 games!!! Are u serious?

Like LIW said, let's wait until the window ends before we even think about questioning Cellinos ambition and credentials.

Who's written him off?

Bianchi is thought to be our best aquisition so far. I think we need to allow him a little time to settle in.
There again you could just start yelling and acting like spoilt brats coz the team isn't top now.

Whiterose,

are you seriously suggesting we have no reason to complain at the moment?

posted on 20/8/14

My comments on Bianchi are based on the 3 matches I've watched him live, at the ground, so far.

He does seem off the pace. It could be he's not playing where he's best - it could be he's still adjusting. I'm not saying he's not a good player or won't come good.

I've made a perfectly valid observation, having witnessed the guy in 3 matches. Different league, different country, different culture. It may all take a bit of time.

posted on 20/8/14

Not sure why he's thought to be our best signing yet. I think a few people watched him in a friendly.

In the three matches I've seen him, he's been a passenger.

posted on 20/8/14

Exactly Sheldon. Played 3 games, and he's been poor in all, not offering any glimpse of his talent.

No one is writing him off, just saying what they see.

Of our signings so far, it's a toss up between Silvestri and Doukara for me for best signing.

Still early days of course ............ we might have the new Messi in our squad this time next week .....

Best - I don't follow your logic.

I said the players need time to gel - hence 10 games.

Cellino has replaced a lot of deadwood but the replacements need time. Surely you don't expect miracles after 4 games?
