Sakho looks rubbish, you're better off with Skeletor.

Time will tell.

Sahko has had a few injuries and went deeper in the World Cup than most of our other players, so not surprised he is getting a bit of a rest.

Be interesting to see how it turns out.

Skrtel had a very solid game vs Saints and a really good season last year. Why would you want to drop him?

never understood the skrtel haters.

he is a brilliant defender who needs an organiser alongside him. without that he gets too involved in personal scraps, but he is quick, strong and loves a tackle.

They are both left footed and you cannot play 2 left footed CBs together. No matter what anyone tells you. You can't. The world implodes if you try!

Lovren is right footed.

i think in the long run that will be the main partnership, i dont particularly dislike skrtel, but he nearly cost us 2 points when he got outmuscled by that lump southampton had upfront who headed it to scneiderlin

He was pushed from behind when about to win the ball. He can't help it if the referee misses a foul. Any defender would have been moved when pushed from behind, that includes the best in the world.

just had another look at it, there wasnt much contact at all, so harsh to say he was outmuscled, but was outplayed and its not a foul

Check the big chance of Southampton (Schneiderlin hit the bar) and notice the obvious inconsistent defending by Skrtel who goes to the challenge as if he isn't the last defender inside the box. Also recall Clyne goal and how Skrtel leaves uncovered a huge area of space behind Lovren, without marking somebody. That space's going to be exploited and his late tackle can't be effective. I'm not saying that Skrtel is a liability overall. I like his athleticism among else. When committed he's a great defender. That kind of sloppy defending is down to lapses of concentration. However it's happened again and again last season and in football details count so much.

It was a push in the back, a push in the back is a foul.

Read Mignolet's comments, who was closer to it than you or I.

"I think first of all there was a foul on Skrts [Martin Skrtel] but the ball fell in front of Schneiderlin, who hit it really well but luckily I got a hand to it," he reflected to Liverpoolfc.com.

Skrtel has been our best defender in two of the last three seasons, getting our Player of the Year in the first. Why drop your best defender? It's up to the others to get themselves in front of him.

Lovren played mainly left centre back and the thing I liked about him was his willingness to bring the ball forward from defence. He looked motivated and I hope he keeps it up.

Amazing save from Mignolet there. I remember he saved a penalty or somesuch in the first game of last season so great start.

I like skrtel but think sakho is better thats all. Thought Lovren and sakho would make a good pairing.
