I think S Davies is about at his level, cant see him playing at a higher level at all
Slightly above average championship striker

We were promised when he signed that Steve Davies was more than capable of performing. Only now are we starting to see it.
If he can stay injury free, I think he will improve further and we need to extend his contract.

I also think he is at his level, but think he would probably be better playing of a targetman.

I think all of our forwards would prefer someone to feed off

Steve Davies just needs to stay fit..he will get 15/20 goals this season if he does.

Yeah I tend to agree that SD is about at his level. He could be a good championship striker if he stays fit.

As for his loyalty towards Derby, I dunno. Are any footballers loyal now-a-days :/

I think if he can stay fit he will get better and better for us, as for staying loyal I'm sure if a decent offer came in it would be more about wether the board would cash in or not.

I mentioned this in relation to Shackell.

I am pretty sure that a £2m/£3m bid for Davies or Shackell would be accepted no question.

Yeah, as we're soon as we're any good we'll sell 'em all. Season over then. Back to the drawing board!

I disagree with most on this subject and think he is potentially a premier league player (not top level - Wigan, Bolton maybe), but as a winger. Just a good championship striker.

I've rated him since he first came and was glad he was given that last chance to prove his fitness. Most of our injury prone players in recent years were not worth waiting a month for.

He seems a decent bloke and I hope if he is being looked at by other clubs come January he will want to repay some of the manager's faith in him. As has been suggested already though, if any sort of offer comes in he will be asked to leave by our dear leaders.

I don't rate him as a winger at all. I never felt he looked comfortable there and was rather confused as to why we were so quick to renew his contract.

I thought he tried hard in the centre forward role last season without much reward, but he's started this term on fire and really seems to be growing into the role.

when I first saw davies really show what he can do, is when i saw him on our left wing in Man U match, his ability on the ball ate eva alive and I have no doubt that skill remains within him and he could easily make the grade as prem player, however his fitness always has and always will be major problem, if he stays fit, get goals whatever level plays and in whatever attacking position

bolder way to pre-judge a player on few injury plagued games >>....he got second top team scorer without even playing half season, why because he is (In my opinion) a good player at this time, I just hope his form contiunes and his fitness stays up >>

Ive always being a big fan of stevie, and do think he could cut the mustard in the P.L,my biggest wish is that he gets that chance with us being there.

I disagree about Steve Davies's fitness. I just think that he has been terribly unlucky, suffering a long sequence of freak injuries.

I mean, how often do you hear of players having six months out with Achilles Plague or a depressed fracture of the eyelash, to say nothing of his long battle with PS3 Finger?

Quick question, does anyone know if he has been played as a holding mid field player? Cause he certainly isn't a striker!! He could be the answer to Nigel's prayers, filling the mid field slot, especially when we get Tyson back!!

Stevie Davies could not be further from a Steve Howard 'target man' he's missing about 5 inches for a start and about 2 stone

Decent poacher with a wicked right foot given the space. I will not right his ability off just yet basedc on the fact none of us have actully seen him fit enough to build any kind of momentum .

Could been a decent striker at any level playing the way he is, he's sharp good in space, decent vision and a nice first touch.

However if he becomes a decent player this board will no doubts cash in without a second thought

It's all very well saying he was second top scorer Al, but that actually translates to 5 goals in 21 games.

Having said that I still don't think that's a bad return in a poor side. I prefer seeing him in the more traditional forward role and I don't buy into the belief that a target man has to be a giant lump. At 6'1" Davies is plenty big enough to win his share of headers.

that is again unfair, wasn't it more like 9 starts and 11 sub appears (remember clough was maga careful with him, so even when played, mostly cammo, so 1 in 4 is good return..don't get me wrong, I know he could turn out to be carp, but I think he won't
