When Did Monreal Become So Shaky?

He had some lousy games last year but was also a victim of poor tactics along with Sagna.

Pushing the full backs forward because they provide the only width and pace is NOT a good idea as we saw from Liverpool and Chelsea.

Wouldn't say Montreal is a bad player. He's been solid so far this season

I think he's been quite good so far this season. Even during pre season at CB he looked pretty solid. I know pre season isn't a big test, but he's been pretty good. Hopefully back on form

He was solid in the first six months. Dunno what happened either. His lack of pace does not help him.

I fear for him tomorrow v Lukaku

Became shaky when he went from being first choice at Malaga and playing every week to being back up to gibbs and only plays when required

Remember when fans said he was better than Gibbs because he represented Spain

The gap couldn't be greater

Stats?

He's way better than Santos and his performances would be better if he had decent cover in front of him but usually he has one of Podolski, Cazorla or Ozil ahead of him and none of them are that good going the other away

no condom in front of him, santi goes walk a bouts

He's also waaaaay better than Gibbs going forward too

Eboue, Djourou, Senderos, Vermaelen, Jenkinson, Ramsey, Chamackh

All these players looked good while they were regulars in the side. When they're just back ups and don't play all the time it affects their form. Mainly defenders too. This is why Monreal doesn't seem as good as when he first arrived

Needs consistent game time

He never looked that good, never. Gibbs has always looked better.

Remember Andre Santos against Liverpool? Monreal has never put in a performance even a tenth as bad as that. Santos towards the end was literally not a footballer.

I think he had a solid game against Besiktas. Agree with Pat Rice going forward he is better. Think the critics he receives are unwarranted.

I could understand this article 6 months ago but so far this season he's actually looked a fair bit better. I don't think left back is a position we need to worry about to be honest (although Gibbs' injuries are a concern...)

This.

He hardly plays now so will not look as good. But taking that into account I think we would struggle to get anyone better, so we need to stick with him and give him game time as much as we can. I probably rate him more than most on this thread from the looks of it and if h gets a good run of games (after the little hes played recently probably at least 4 or 5 games) I think he will show that he has still got it. You cant expect the best players to be happy playing second fiddle so stop your complaining about him.....

....oh, I cant resist, and use your complaining more constructively by complaining about Giroud who is first choice and still crap!!!!!!!

Remember he didn't have a pre season last season due to injury and didn't come bk in top shape. Thrust into the team to quick due to Gibbs being injured.

Monreal is a very good second choice to have at Left back. Gibbs may have a fight to get the place back after he recovers.

I was going to have a dig about Shaw but to be honest I feel quite sorry for Man U fans at the moment.

It's amazing how our fans want to criticise each and every player we have over a period of time. So many moaners!
